I'm creating a wiki about a certain city using wiki wp theme for wordpress. Will my site be deindexed if I copy everything from Wikipedia? I don't mind spending some time re writing the articles to get unique content, but if I can get ranked with duplicate content its easier that way.

No, don't copy the whole thing

If you are lazy then rewrite 70% of it
The other 30% just try to put in Italic and link to the source (wikipedia)

Nobody can assure you that you will rank better because of a 100% unique content but I can tell you that Google after the Panda update gives more credit to unique content ;)
