um i think if the person copywrited it it would be, i guess im not sure. Why not change up random stuff and alter the look a bit than no one would really notice.

If you straight ****** source code I think they can use copywrite infr. against you I think atleast.

Well it's not legal to claim somebody elses work as your own, but not in the sense that the FBI is going to come busting your door down but it could open you up to a lawsuit (very unlikely unless somebody is really bored or extremely mad at you) as far as the networks are concerned, they don't care. If you copy the LP of a super affiliate (hundreds of leads per day) and he tells them he's going to send his traffic elsewhere unless they ban you then maybe, but that's very unlikely.

Get the whole "is it illegal" thing out of your mind. The only thing mentioned on bhw that i've seen that is illegal is spamming. And that isn't even illegal everywhere. Worst case you'll get a C&D (cease and desist). Some networks may run it through copyscape and see that it's copied. If you're already in the network i doubt they will care much. This should be the least of your worries.

Here is my suggestion. Copy the super affiliate exactly at first. Now you will get the same results. Next step is to improve on it.... making corrections on a weekly basis, constantly so a few months down the road, it will look completely different.

    To ********:

I would venture to say that it takes more than a "one-pixel difference" to make a hacked graphic legal. Usually, it is determined by a judge in court.

At the worst, you would probably get a "cease-and-desist" order to remove your graphics. Most people don't want to spend the time and money in pursuing these things. They are usually satisfied if you remove the plagerized materials.

    Cheers! - "Wiz"

Also, you guys have to remember writing "Copyright " on a website, does NOT make it copyrighted lol.

To get a copyright, you have to file it, which 99% percent of websites do NOT have.

Hey, I am an attorney who has done some intellectual property law. Copyright attaches to any work you create, registering or filing of any kind is not required. The question about legality of taking someone else's original work is that its not "illegal" per say but it could be described as unlawful in the tort sense. So, a person whose copyright was infringed could sue for damages.

Your an attorney? Why are you on here then? Shouldn't you be out settling some law suites and running off with a 25 year old broad you met in court?

@thePredator, I am on here because I have always loved computers far more than the law. The part about getting lots of trim is true, though. ha.

hahahahahaha that so reminds me of vanilla Ice stealing that beat a long time ago. BTW. he got sued. I think the bottom line is this. If you are making hands over fists cash with something that you copied then someone is going to get theirs. If your not making sh*t then why waste the time to sue you. Hell even sending a cease and desist letter isn't cheap for a company to do. Anytime lawyers are involved the price is never cheap. Copy it. Improve on it and change some images.

Just to let you know. I do copy and will do it again. ;)

There is a saying. A good artist creates from scratch. A great artist steals.

Nope, that's absolutely wrong. All creative written works and graphic arts are automatically copyright. Registering the copyright only gives the owner the right to claim statuary damages for violations rather than having to prove absolute damages. Google "Berne Convention" for more details.

If you copy a page that has not had a copyright registered, the worst that is likely to happen is that the copyright owner will complain to your ISP and the page will be taken down. If you do it several times you will probably lose your hosting account.

However, if you copy a page that has had its copyright registered, the owner could sue you for thousands of dollars in statutory damages, without having to prove anything other than that you copied their work.
