What other easy to use systems are you guys using besides wordpress? Looking for something with quick learning curve. Hopefully free templates. I want it to look good, but not spend a ton of time on it.

what are you planning to use it for?
    IMO
    * joomla is excellent for a more involved system for business, some of the extensions are very powerful. however it is quite a bit of extra work getting it setup to act similar to wordpress (ie. post a bunch of articles)
    * drupal is awkward - a bigger learning curve but seems quite powerful for certain functions.

if all you really want is something simple to use as a blog - you could try serendipity - I have tried several cms/blog variants through softaculous and this was the only one that functioned off the bat. it has templates - not a great selection and I didn't really care that much, but editing the css style file made it different enough.

IMO Joomla is total crap. Drupal is more stramlined, faster and way more customizable. I run a few sites with Drupal + The Bootstrap Theme, and they look great with little customization.

Most of my new sites are running ROR with Locomotive or just ROR, unless they are straight up blogs ... then I just stick to Wordpress+Genesis.

I have a few sites in a PBN for a new site, but I want it to be a quality site and want something different than WP. So I want it to look good, but hopefully something simple.

Drupal and Bootstrap 3 is awesome, but it takes so long to learn Drupal imo.

Ghost was the first one I wanted to try, but it just wouldn't run on my host. Not sure if a host issue - if it installed straight from softaculous I would give it a go it looked simple but solid.

Drupal sucks, period, unless you want to start learning php as a 'side project' I would suggest you forget about that.

Joomla is very simple to work with, I'm not sure where people come up with the "It's hard to get it to work like Wordpress". I've used it since day one and it's the best CMS there is, BAR NONE and I've used all of the ones that are worth talking about. Mambo, Expression Engine, phpNuke, Xoops, Wordpress, Dot cms I could go on and on.

I tried that ghost very quickly and didn't like it. I guess I should have gave it more of a look, but I never really heard anything about it, so wasn't sure if it was supposed to be good even.
I'lll try drupal or joomla. I got drupal and a theme, if it's easy enough I'll use it.

If you find a good wordpress theme, you can get plugins to hide the fact that its a wordpress site and do some minor php edits to improve it.

Hide My WP is a good plugin to hide that a site is using wordpress.

    Joomla 4 life.

Best on the market and I have worked with all of them.

Wordpress is babies first website... its simple, easiy to use and offers little customization.

Joomla literally lets you change ANYTHING. - Full control.

Also: Dont even touch drupal... it will give you cancer in your brain. for Forums... vBulletin if you need all the options and IP.Board if you want it simple.

Wordpress if you need to save your time. Joomla takes time to build up - its not easy as wordpress. Drupal is even more confusing. If time is your first concern then joomla would be your second choice after wordpress.

Nah... You can set up a Joomla site in 3h. (done it literally hundreds of times.)

Templates need a bit more tweaking, but basic HTML/PSD knowledge is a must in this job either way.

I mean if you cant tweak a bit of code or image, you may as well not even bother starting in IM.
