I was talking with a forum owner that I know and he said he cleaned up threads on his forum that were old and that had minimal to no current traffic. Meaning, no searches from search engines and were just taking up space.

He said that his rankings improved shortly thereafter and believes this to be the cause. Google isn't a fan of low quality content, I've heard that before. Does deleting low quality threads with minimal to no responses really make your site better?

Would this extend to blog posts too? What if I have like 400 posts on my blog that are 250 words or more? If I were to delete the ones no longer getting a few views here and there would it actually improve my blog?

What are your thoughts? I haven't really SEO'd the random posts ever so it's not like I'd be removing backlinks.

When you have posts like "Thanks" or "Wow that's great" for about 30 responses like you see here sometimes gives you no content to rank for unless you want to rank for "thanks" So I think that it actually did help his forum.

I don't think it would help a blog that much but I have never tried it either. They are however giving your home page a push with the content. So if you are going to try it, use only one blog to start.... Low ranking one too.

Alright, I was going to say, based on my previous experience my blog posts have no reason to be deleted. May do some work on my forum though with low quality threads such as counting threads. I just never know these days with the panda updates, I was hit hard.

Yes i agree, Post getting no responses or getting few of them just wow, good or great like those post should be deleted. It can help you to improve in terms of space and speed.

If your getting very tiny or zero traffic on your blogs, you can delete them... but just deleting them won't resolve the issue. You have to remove the blog posts from search results otherwise you will get crawling error in Google webmaster tools.

Duplicate contents not much value, Original contents carry value whether its forum or website. Forums generally carry bunch of unwanted thank you, god bless posts that are worth deleting.

I would never delete posts from my users. I doubt they would stick around long if this was happening.

Not individual posts, just old pointless threads from long ago that the user wouldn't even notice was removed if I didn't tell them.

Ah ok, maybe that makes sense then, I normally just lock old topics so they cannot be brought back up. Do you get penalized for having bad links when they try to reindex that page?
