Content is ready - should I drip it slowly or publish all at once?

    Hi guys,

I created roughly 45~ articles for my website, all of which are 700~ words.

    1. From SEO perspective, is it better to publish the content all at once? Or drip it (if so, at what frequency?)

    2. I use wordpress. Again from an SEO perspective, should I publish the articles as posts or pages? Or both?

    3. If posts it is, should I use categories or tags?

    Thank you very much.

You can either do one a day or spread them from 1 article every 3-4 days. Unless you're building an authority site. You can just publish them all. But thats what i've read :)

Lol. Why wouldn't just update your site as you got them done? Unless got them all done at the same time.

I personally believe G is updating at a faster rate than what we were used to. At least for me this is true.

I'd probably drip the content, this way you can see how it effects your site.

I'd categorize them just like any other site. If they're within the same subject, put them together. If they're different topics within the same niche, then I'd create pages for them.

I doubt you have 40 articles on the same subject. Remember, each post you make has a unique URL to it. So you interlink them within your sites. Kind of similar to having pages if you think about it.

My theory has always been, just because you have the ability to do something, it doesn't mean you should abuse it. I'd say making it look natural would be of benefit to you.

I would publish once per day to look more natural to search engine

Use categories or tags wisely because it get index as a page so if u put too many tags it will look spammy

Regarding post or page I personally cant answer that Ive seen both works

Schedule them for 1 article a day. Posting all at once is fine but then your blog/site would look stagnant later according to google.

If you have do not have any other content on your blog, then 2-3 the first week, 4-5 the second week, then one a day. The second week submit your first week's links to an indexing service. A week later do the second weeks. By then your site will be getting spidered frequently by google for new content. Unless you have something that deserves it's own special page submit them as posts. Tags on all of your posts. Is your blog niche-specific, if so categories should not be necessary, your keywords should be reflected in post titles. If it is a general blog then use categories and keyword-related titles so the post is in this format yourblogname.com/category/posttitle.

Is the blog to be your main site? If so, build a fence around (tier1) it of good quality backlinks from web 2.0s that you created by hand. 20 would be a good start. Your links in the web 2.0s should point to specific posts on your main blog.

I am tired and doing this quickly, but it still will give you a good guide to get started this weekend.

    Lionshades,

I think the choice to publish them all at once or over a longer time period has little impact on optimization and more to do with your personal or business goals for your website. I think a search engine could care less that you all of a sudden have many more pages of content on your site as long as things are legitimate. Larger websites add hundreds or even thousands of pages every day.

The question becomes, do you want to become an authority on something by adding content consistently over a long time period or do you want to just upload everything and be done with it? The former is better for developing a following and keeping readers coming back and the latter is better if you are just building a site and once its finished you aren't going to touch it for a while.

Here is a similar thread on WF with a lot of opinions,

    http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense...penalty-adding-too-much-content-too-fast.html

Hope that helps you with your decision,

    Shawn

I would add 30% in the first day and ping the site to get it indexed, after that I will add 2 articles a day until I reach the limit.

Word is out, today you need at least 10 posts/pages for site to have at least some "mass", so you can easily put up 10 posts there and drip the rest.
I would make pages out of articles I want to rank and use rest as support posts linking back to those pages.

Both, just try to be creative and don't tag/categorize with same keywords. I usually tags with longer tail/LSI keywrods as for categories I go with more generic names - like category name "personal finance" and tag could be "improve your credit rating" - this way you sort'of cover all your bases.

I have done something similar. Created a ton of articles and posted 20 of them on the site launch and the rest 1 per day. Articles where indexed after a while (about 24 hours) after the initial launch without any SEO.

This is the best thread for today on BHW. Almost all answers are very clear, helpful and full of facts/experiences. My 2 cents:

1- Read the following quoted comment
    2- posts
3- use both. they are different things.
IMHO, best of the best answer. +repped.

Thank you all for your clear answers, I highly appreciate it.

The site is a foreign language investment blog. The reason I haven't updated it already is that I was originally writing this for a product, but then realized demand is low so I opted for a blog.

I have another important question - I currently use a "maintenance mode" wordpress plugin for my site as it is still under construction. It gives the crawlers the "503 temporarily unavailable" message. Will everything be indexed once I remove this plugin, or do I have to ping the articles again?

I prefer to drip slowly (<10 a day). As similar to a real written blog site as possible.

Not all at once. I recommend for one per day. let drip and see the changing on your site. This helps your sites look natural and safe with G. For second question, you should publish as pages (create new page).
