Need something that creates html pages or wordpress posts from articles and folders of images, the images should be randomly placed in articles. Has anyone heard about such a tool?

You can use seo content machine.

It has HTML article template, that also allows you to insert images randomly AND set the first image as featured image for the post.

You can then even post the created article within the program directly to your wordpress blogs (draft, published) and scheduled however you wish.

There is a free 5 day trial as well.

It doesn't seem to take the images from local folders and upload them but thanks anyway. I have spinnerchief which is pretty similar.

Yes it does support local folders, you just paste in the actual path + filename, when it gets posted to wordpress it is converted to a http.

The posting has to happen via SCM blog manager for the conversion to happen, you can't copy and paste the html into wordpress article as is.

Let's say I have a folder with 100 (spun) articles and a folder with 1000 images with proper file names (long-tail-keyword.jpg). Will it create 100 posts with 10 images each inserted in paragraphs with proper alt tags and captions?

SeoContentMachine is the right choice I think.
It had the options to place the images automatically inside the article.
But clear with your images and articles specification for content generation.

SEO Content Machine is the best one. You can add your WordPress blog into Seo Content Machine and use Article creator to insert images.

Being able to preview the articles before you post them to your blog is very helpful and its a stepping stone to allow you to tighten up the final quality of the posted articles if you ever wish to do so.

Also for those of you who want to create image only blogs, you can RSS sub to some tumblr blogs, and autopost images directly to your own WP blogs (or anything blog that supports post by email)
