If let's say I install content blocker gateway on my SEO site, would it harm my pages ranks? Let's say I put content blocker gateway for every new blog post on my wordpress site, would I lose my ranks then for the keywords? I heard Google hate pop up kind of things, so how about content gateway blocker stuffs?

hi nufaman, I dont think it's wise to ask them. If I ask CPA lead about this stuff, obviously they would say "no it's ok" because they want me to put their widget tags on my site, isnt it? Why would they tell the truth?

WP Guardian does not affect your search engine rankings and is a very nifty content blocker ;)...

I'm aware that I'm bumping a 7 months old thread but just didn't want to start a new one on the exact same topic.

Right - so to answer all of you who are wondering whether google penalises sites for the usage of content lockers - yes, they do.

We've recently bought a site that got tons of organic traffic across 20+ keywords. As a small test, we put up a content locker on the front page. Everything was hunky dory until after 20 or so hours - at which point we lost *all* our rankings for this site.

On another note, we've got other sites that have their sub-pages locked and these don't seem to have any issues with Google.

    So be careful!

i guess it is because organic visitors was forced to complete an offer, and most of them didn't want to do that, so the avarage time visitors spent on your times has changed and this is one of the main factors that indicates how valuable your resource is, if users are browsing your site, staying for longer time than probably your site is valuable ,so there is good reason to rank it better. and vise versa

Yep, I know this. However, I'm not talking about a significant decrease in rankings but a complete exclusion (which is something that doesn't happen due to high bounce rate) so it has to have something to do with the gateway directly.

Of course there's a possibility that google penalised the site for some other reason and it was just a coincidence that we put up the gateway at the same time. Then again, this is highly unlikely.

I run content lockers on most of my sites... Rank page one with no problems (for months and months)... Maybe the trick is to add it right away instead adding it on a established site?

Besides, content lockers are java... I thought bots don't crawl java... If you are really worried host the snipplet somewhere else and just call for it in a script ... That way you won't have a networks URL in your main source. (obfuscate it for extra protection :) )

I run it on all of mine also. My bounce rate is still 30% and I have NEVER had a issue with my ranking changing. I use a custom script not CPA LEAD or any of those type of locks.

I have used it on both established sites and new sites and have had no problems.

So IMO NO it does not effect you. If you are doing it right everything should be fine. I have a site with a 80% bounce rate and it has still stayed on the first page of G.

Bumping this thread.. I would like to hear more about this since I just bought meathead1234's and bryan's content locker pro. If anyone has a lot of experience with this I would like to hear it. Also, any discussion on some how keeping it from G would be great. Maybe somehow hide some files through .htaccess or robots.txt.
