I wanted to start a new thread and maybe some more threads on various tactics I use. This thread I want to focus on a specific sales tactic I use to slip into the doors with new contacts I make from contact form Marketing. Contact form marketing is sending messages to website owners via their contact form on their website. One could do this manually or use contact form submitting software. I use contact form submitting software for my submissions. Just like any type of message marketing whether via email or contact form; the message is very important part of the process. So spend some time crafting a message that is as personal as possible, and use technologies or tactics that can ensure high delivery and open rates. If the subject line is something that makes them stop to look and the message then your open rates and click through rates will be sky high. With the example I am writing here, I decided to promote my SEO and web development services. The next item I did was keyword research on the audience that I wanted to target. In this instance I decided to target mommy bloggers and parenting websites. Once my audience is selected I crafted my message below: Subject: Re: Concerning #Website# Message: Hi, My name is Mr. and I was looking at a few different sites online involving parenting and came across your site #Website# (my wife loves mommy sites and blogs so I am often surfing around too ) and wanted to check if you needed help with managing or updating your site or social media accounts. I have been developing sites for almost a decade now, and have been managing many social media campaigns for local and even international companies. I know that my skills and connections in the marketing world can be a great addition to your website and marketing efforts. If you would like to talk to me about helping you manage: #Website# #Facebook# #Twitter# Give me a call at (xxx)xxx-xxxx Thanks and Best Regards, Mr. The #Website# and other social symbols are short codes, that the contact form submitter uses to insert that specific websites url and social media accounts in the body and subject line of the message being sent. This personalizes the message too such an extent that no one will ever be able to tell that the message was anything than someone actually looking into this website personally. Analysis of my message: I wanted to target a segment of the online world that is not only growing, but also passionate. So I targeted Mommy type of websites. I find that because of the passion of these mommy bloggers they usually take their message, social status and designs very serious since in this world IMAGE is EVERYTHING, as compared to direct businesses which may scoff at the need for social promotion or a fancy website (since most prolly they have never had much traffic and don't understand the need for seo and social interaction. BUT THESE MOMMIES DO). I knew that my message, because it is so personalized and very targeted, would have a high response rate. I had almost 23% response rate. I also knew that almost all of the responses would be thanking me for looking at their site and tell me in most instances that they were good on the web and marketing side of things. There were several responses that embraced the web help and I am in discussions with those now, but this thread and my main focus for the campaign is about the responses I received which did not immediately embrace the web help. Here is a response from one of the people contacted (almost all of the message replies were very similar): Thanks for taking the time to look at my site I hope you and your wife enjoyed it, but I got it covered. Thanks! This response as I mentioned was anticipated and the day after receiving this reply I sent my reply back.: Yes I did love your blog. Anyways, if you ever need anything let me know. Best Regards, The report that I delivered back to the prospect is very professional, detailed and covers almost everything with site structure. Most sites have validation errors and optimization problems and I knew that a lot of people will actually see these errors and optimization errors and would want to fix those items. And below is a real response back from the prospect (which also is similar a lot people replied back): Wow! I didn't know my site had so many issues. Are these serious issues? How much would you charge to fix everything Thanks Prospects Name P.S. Thanks for taking your time to do this. Hopefully the strategy I have listed here is plain for everyone to see. When I create a marketing campaign I do not do a campaign just for initial positive responses back embracing my help; but rather I try to incorporate strategies that anticipate initial rejection, with a hook to get the prospect talking to me about their website in detail. From there you should be ready to talk to them over the phone or other media in-depth about their site and what you can do and provide them. After this .... it is all your sales skillz at work!!!!!!!!! Hope this post helps people devise good sales marketing tactics.
