Conning idiots on a radio talkshow is a great way to sell books...Any other applications?

I'm studying a new method I just found on BHW, and Coast to Coast AM (national radio show here in the USA) has another crackpot bs a**clown liar selling his crap, which is something he made up. He gets paid to teach this crap to people at a college and gets paid to speak to conventions for this garbage!

What does this guy do? He take's people's forward speech, then runs it backwards. In the backwards recordings, he looks for sentences in the sounds and then claims that the backwards words are revealing our true intentions. The guy "finds meanings" in those "words" and uses it to provide his "patients" with "therapy". Friggin' brilliant. People actually believe this garbage. Hell, the guy himself might actually believe this crap.

Bottom line is that if you listen to enough backwards recordings of someone talking, your brain will recognize that as a human voice and try to make words out of the sounds. Try it yourself, and you'll see what I mean.

This is a great idea to con morons out of the money that must just be burning a hole in their pockets, since they must be too damn stupid to know what else to do with it if they'd spend it on this stuff.

Not that I promote doing such a thing, but, are there other real phenomenon that can be twisted into something "supernatural" that doesn't really exist, and be applied to marketing in the offline world?

I think you are looking in the wrong direction. Instead of looking for "something else" to use "offline", instead you should be adapting this and creating automated, online method.

    1) Set up a website that has the ability to input voice communications via headset or microphone.
    2) Ask sucker a list of questions, and have them input their answers via voice.
    3) Run your (lol, get this) "Personality Analyzer" and feed them back their own voice backwards, and then (TA-DA !!!)
    4) Output a list of all the wonderful qualities of their personality their "voice sample" clearly demonstrates.

You've been a strong, intuitive thinker ever since you were very young.
People sometimes think you live in a world all by yourself.
You are very generous, and will take the time to get to know someone.

Reminds me of that show where the guy can apparently read minds. He writes down a really vague letter and puts it in an envelope before handing it to everyone and just pretending to read their minds when they arrive. In the end they realise they all had the same letter of generic personality traits.
