Congress, states, and retailers are pushing for an internet sales tax

    I know we've discussed a lot about PIPA/SOPA/CISPA, and while those attempts to take internet freedom were horrible, its effect on IMers was questionable (aside from IMers who market warez).

    But an internet sales tax would 100% affect us IMers in the US, and if you're not from here, it will make it easier for your government to do the same thing.

    Offline businesses, especially retailers, are mad that we're ruining their dying business model. And state governments are looking for ways to pay for their budget failures. Now there's a big push for this to happen.

    Bill Clinton signed the Internet Tax Freedom Act in 1998, but this doesn't protect again internet sales tax.
