Upon my research (within the forum), it seems to me that 'nofollow' links are pretty useless in terms of SERPs and PR. They seem to be only good for 'diversifying' your backlinks so that it appears 'normal' to google.

In terms of juice, they dont really pass on much (or even if they are, they probably wont be able to cause much impact).

I am not 100% sure if the above theories are correct as I am fairly new myself. It simply want to sum up my research here for people who are at the same stage as me (new to SEO) and see what you guys think?

In another words, its really quite POINTLESS to use scrapebox and commenting on 'NOFOLLOW" auto-approve blogs, since they arent going to help much anyways - maybe they will start to help after you got some good "d-o-f-o-l-l-o-w" links with high PR?

    Any inputs will be appreciated.

Make a page on a web 2.0 property and aim loads of ******** links at it, then edit your post to be correct :p

I've seen plenty of NO FOLLOW links show up in my Google webmaster tools. I don't know what to think.

Nofollow links are usefull as they are getting shown up on webmasters, you can just put 1 link of your site so that you are not in any wrong side and will get advantage of every link.

You're forgetting the advantage of getting targeted traffic from a high-quality authority site. Wouldn't you put a great first comment (if at all that sticks there) with a link to your web-page (if that's allowed) on an authority web-page which gets 1000s of visitors daily simply because it's 'No-Follow' attached?

Human eyes are more important than coded Google bots...

    Well your theory is wrong.

They're almost as useful as the ******** ones.

don't look to much to Do-follow and no-follow...
For example. wikipedia is no-follow, but if you get a link from there it will be well worth it.

I have many no follow links and after a scrapebox blast I always improve in serps. I think you are incorrect to say that they are useless. Yes do follow are better but no follow are useful too.

It's a natural process to have no follows in your backlinking structures... without them you could be leaving a footprint for google to see.

As to serp value, I believe there is some there and as someone above mentioned, links from an authority site are valuable even if it is just for the click through traffic.

I do well with my wikipedia links and I know that those are no follow but people click through to my sites from them.

nofollow links are not as strong but they definately make a difference. I've ranked sites using only scrapebox, where 98% of the comments were nofollow. I wouldn't put much effort into getting nofollows. Easy links are good links!

    Cheers!
