I am a web designer and have a new web site (portfolio of my work). The keywords that I am am after are "freelance web designer","web designer" ... but there are VERY competitive and I am not an SEO expert. So for the last few weeks I am building backlinks (that's my main and biggest "promotion" that I am doing for my web site) , but knowing my SEO level I don't think that I'll be able to rank good in google (at least not for a long time) with this kind of competition/keywords.And I need real people (clients) and not necessarily a top google position - if this is possible. So my question is should I continue to concentrate on backlink building or should I buy targeted traffic to my site - still building links but not as exclusive as I am doing now ? Any tips/suggestions on improving real traffic (I can get junk traffic, but it doesn't help me) ? PS: Now I am using SENuke + blog commenting + directory submission + starting with YouTube videos + Hummingbird and my traffic ( 90%) is coming from twitter, but mostly junk traffic - no real clients.
