I have a site about used cars in different cities

    usedcard.com/new-york
    usedcard.com/boston
    usedcard.com/seattle
    ....

one of my competitors had a site about used cars in Boston. He went broke now and I managed to get his domain.

Should I redirect his old site to my landing page for Boston (usedcard.com/boston)? Or should I rather build a PBN and link to my site then?

I know that most of you advise against 301 redirect but I heard that in specific cases (same niche etc) it is still a good idea.

So what is your opinion here?

301 mate if you think he is getting traffic and good serps, with a bit of luck it will place your page in same position.

I would build it out as a site. If it expired recently, get it set up exactly as it was before, and see where it ranks after a month of reinstating it. It might be sending you some leads once back to its original rankings. If not, it'll still make for a nice PBN or 301 - you can just post something like "OldCompany was bought by <Your Company/Site>" and since it's the same niche, it would only look like you're expanding.
