Hello, I was hoping I could get some help from someone experienced in the field of analyzing competitors backlinks. I found someone ranking youtube videos for competitive terms, with basically just views and backlinks.

From everything that I have read about youtube seo, he shouldn't be ranking there... he only has 1 video, no likes, no comments, short description etc, no on page optimization, no social signals....

This leads me to believe all the guides that keep coming out are leading us in the wrong direction... they are great for whitehatters, but there are better methods to rank.

I would like to do some analysis on this guys videos, I have found he has many accounts, each ranking for a competitive affiliate word... While my target is not affiliate marketing, I believe his strategies could be used in every type of marketing...

If you are good at competitive analysis, please post here, and I will send you a few of his successful campaigns, and together, we can analyze them and see if we can recreate his method.

Keep in mind that there is a trick to this as well. You can use adwords to promote your video, then when it reaches a viral status through the advertising, the viral lift will often times earn it a featured spot.

I am actually in the process of trying this with a new niche. One video on an aged account with a few bucks in adwords, has got me a pile of views, and I imagine at the end of my campaign I will rank a bit higher on the lists, at which point I may do some back linking to the video.

But I never realized till I started Scraping that youtube videos can carry some pretty high PR. But I am still very new to SEO so I may be dabbling in ancient history here!

I am not sure what you are trying to say... I am in need of someone who creates/knows how to analyze backlinks.

I was explaining how he could have appeared to be ranked without back linking. Through advertising.

Backlinks are still important to rank the videos, not sure how much role does comments and views plays in ranking.

Are you talking about ranking videos on youtube or on google? Feel free to PM me with more details.

I am talking about ranking videos on google. Some of the videos this guy ranks may be #6 in youtube for his term, yet his videos outrank the videos that are higher on youtube. The other videos have 100k+ views, 500k+ views, and even 1m+ views. His tend to have 25-80k views, yet they outrank the rest!

Have you analyzed his backlinks with ahrefs etc? He may have some strong backlinks that are helping him rank.

there are a few things that are important in youtube

1- where the video is embedded ( i found this accidently some time ago, a video embedded on a high pr page, has a higher chance of ranking for a relevant keyword.
2- screenshot that is shown - very important
3- related video - very important

Think about it. it isn't rocket science.

I am not trying to rank for some easy keywords with no competition. I am going for keywords that many wouldn't dream of going for with youtube videos... I believe this strategy can get us there... that is why I am enlisting help.
