    Hey guys,

I'm currently doing my keyword research and thought I had found a good niche. However, all the results in the top ten of Google are big ecommerce sites. You can see the results in this image:

Longtailpro says that the keyword competitiveness is under 30 - which is ideal - and the sites aren't authority sites on the niche, just have high ranking inner pages for the keyword.

Given the above, is it still worth trying to rank in this niche? Thanks!

Edit: sorry I can't figure out how to full screen the image. Click on it to see the full size version!

You already answered your question. It's typically a good sign if top 10 shows ebay and Amazon.

    Thanks for the replies.

TokyoDesu, I don't own a PBN yet - though I do plan on building one when I have some niche sites set up

Reeshua, I thought it was the other way round? I will never be able to outcompete ebay and amazon. I found this guide: nichepursuits.com/when-seo-rules-dont-apply-ecommerce-sites-and-other-anomalies/ in which the author says that if the top 10 results is mostly ecommerce sites, avoid the niche. This is because Google will always favour the ecommerce sites so you'll struggle to break into the top 10 pages.

Any other thoughts on this? Cheers!

I could beat amazon, ebay and very huge site on the same niche using only 50 PBN and about 200 contextual links ( web 2.0 comments PDF etc ).
I took my site ( new ) about 6 months to hit page 1. Used about 50 long good quality post ( 500-1000 word ).

If you want to rank in any mid-high comp nich, It will take time and effort.
