Every once in awhile, I get a company that contacts me trying to buy advertisement. I often tell them to make an offer because I don't know how much to charge per month. If I make about $200/month from Adsense is it a good idea to charge $400/month for all my ad spots?

    Doesn't Google take half?

Google won't take any revenue you would generate from any of your banner ads that others pay to have on your sites.

They take an undisclosed percentage, but not half, I think.

So how does Google make money from their advertising services?

Google makes money when someone clicks on your adsense ads but not it someone clicks on a banner ad that you have with a private party.

I do not know the percentages that we get from the total ad cost though.

I suppose that's what the OP meant by "Doesn't Google take half?". He was talking about AdSen$e ads, not the 3rd party ones.

That's not a good way to sell to a customer imo. YOu need to evaluate how much they make from each member and how much each of your hits will bring to them. Charge like 35% above that and that should be a fair deal.
