Before I start this was ultimately my fault but I thought I would share my experience with others as I believe CJ are a bit sneaky still.

Basically I got accepted into a pretty good affiliate program on CJ and started driving some nice traffic to them. The sales started to come in, and they take a few days as the advertiser has to manually review so I know I have a lot more not showing. Then today I get an email saying ive been removed from the program. Hundreds of dollars of sales gone.

Ultimately the reason I got fucked was because I registered a domain with the advertisers trademark in.

The annoying thing was I submitted the site to CJ and got accepted into the program so surely they should of said then I was violating the TOS but no...they waited till I drove a shed load of traffic to them and then cut it.

Moral of the story...read the TOS properly... :)

It's an Algo, of course it can be gamed.

Usually the advertiser will tell you upfront that you are not allowed to use their name in advertising. I've been hit by CJ once a while back... lost 1400.00 in commissions because I was advertising on craigslist.

I was sending the traffic to my site but that is not allowed by most advertisers on CL.

Yeah after reading the TOS, the advertiser I was promoting is really strict, its in their TOS but I diddnt read in detail. Im hoping that CJ will allow me to continue with the program but just scrap my infringing domain. I can then just direct the traffic to a new site that is allowed and hopefully make the sales there.

Its not just the money thats annoying but all the time spent promoting the site. I had nearly the whole second page of google covered for my keyword!

The thing is, CJ actually dont give a shit, they are just under pressure from the advertiser. They want you to make as much bank as poss. Oh well if they dont allow me back in then adsense it is!
