Hi:

When I receive comments on my videos from other users what is the purpose for them to post comments on my videos. I have received dozens of comments from the same person on my video.Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

What do you mean what is the purpose?
I believe it increases popularity.

The purpose is like everyone said, to increase the user's popularity between the community. Just delete the comments and, if you have to, post your own comments (like switching between accounts)...

Get a youtube auto commenter, find the videos he has uploaded on YT and for every comment he put on ur video, put 10 comments on his.. Take revenge lol

Getting comments from same person may let google delete your video from the site. So, block the comment from the person. that may keep your video stay longer time and getting high views.

If they are posting tons of comments, then mark them all as spam. This will let youtube know, and enough will get them an infraction or suspended. Say he adds like 100 comments to your video overnight. When his accounts get deleted, it could get your video removed too since it looks like you boosted the comments. So mark them all as spam, follow the usernames, find his videos, and flag all of them that you find. Then go and delete all the comments off your video. Wait a day or two and see who the real douchebag is.
