I've done affiliate marketing off and on during the last two years and seem to be a pretty big failure at it. I've been unemployed so 100% of time was spent on these challenges. I'm laying my cards out on the table to tell my story about my experiences with affiliate marketing. Now I know some of you are very proficient at turning a profit with affiliate marketing, but you are all aware that not everyone has the ability or potential to do it. Let's face it, some of us are not equipped with the right mind set and are just too stupid to ever figure it out. I'm sure that I am probably both. Having said that, I have not giving up on making money online and I am now happy to say I am making something. And yes, I know about back links, SEO, PPC, Unique Content, Article spinning, Auto Blogs, Scrape box and every script known to man kind. Tools only work as good as the user so I know I'm to blame. I've been reading BHW for over 2 years on almost a daily basis. I have over 20 blogs, some auto some unique.

Anyways, I've decided to begin offering my services as a writer since I spent all my time writing anyways. I might as well get paid for it. Come to my surprise, after landing some clients, some paying $.01 a word and others $.02 a word, I have effectively crushed my Affiliate earnings that I have made during the last 6 months. After landing reliable clients, I don't bother with Text Broker or Associated Content anymore. If I wanted to make extra I could. Now I'm only writing about 4 hours a day, Monday thru Friday and making anywhere from $800 to $1200 a month. I'm not getting rich, but after living off of food stamps In my grandmas house, it is a lot better than $0.

Here are my figures for the last 6 months with affiliate marketing, and yes I laugh at them too.

    Adsense

    August

    8 clicks .........................$.68

    September

    5 clicks ........................$1.05

    October

    13 clicks .......................$9.33

    November

    5 clicks ........................$5.11

    December

    1 click ......................... $.72

    So far in January

    8 clicks ........................$2.87

    Grand total in Adsense ...................$19.76

So in 6 months I've made $19.76 with adsense. I can make that much writing 3 articles in an hour. hahahaha

Total with Commision Junction with apmex.....

    3 sales ......................... $60

    total with ClickBank

    2 sales ..........................$31.36

Grand Total of all futile attempts in 6 months ......................... $111.12

I made $10 more than that the first week writing, spending an hour and a half a day for 5 days. 7.5 hours total for those 5 days. Affiliate marketing I spent 10 to 12 hours a day for 4 months, every single day. Some sites are new, some are over a year old.

Anyways, after gaining clients, and writing for other SEO websites and businesses, I have finally started out on my way to making some income. No, I'm most likely not going to get rich, but making any type of income after $0 is a huge accomplishment for me.

It has come to my attention that there are so many Affiliate Marketers, they have created huge opportunities to make money by offering services for them. Both failed and successful Affiliate Marketers create jobs. I figure since I my self don't have the correct mindset or know how, I should position myself on the end of those opportunities. At the other end of the spectrum are the product owners. They make money regardless of how successful Affiliate Marketers are. Many of them come and go, but they always supply a steady income to the product owner. Not all product owners make it though. For me, on one end I see the people providing services such as writing or back links, and on the other end the product owners. Both sides making legitimate income from both failed and successful Affiliate Marketers.

Anyways thats my 2 cents and my experience. My cousin is in the process of creating his own products as he too didn't become successful pushing other peoples products. Hopefully it takes off. As for me, I will not continue to do what doesn't work for me, it would be insanity. For me to sit down and write for an hour and see immediate paypal deposits is rewarding. My own failures during the last 2 years have brought me a great distance. Sometimes averaging $20 an hour just for writing is a great way to start. So far, my success with simple writing has over shadowed my failures as an Affiliate Marketer. With all the knowledge I have learned about search engine optimization, writing a 600 word article about SEO goes by pretty quick. Ironically, I cannot practice the same theory and have it work for myself.

So for those who struggle with Affiliate Marketing or other ways to make money online, don't ever quit. Your best bet is not to continue to do what doesn't work and always try new ideas and ways to make some money. Don't ever have all your eggs in one basket and always diversify. Eventually you will find out what works best for you. Search and search and search till you find out what works for you. Everyone is different with what works best for them.

The overall "don't give up" message of your post is very good but there is something very wrong with what you were doing if you worked full time for six months and made that much money. I think the problem was more with your methods rather than with affiliate marketing in general. Good on you for finding something that works for you though.

    Thank you...

Yes something was definitely wrong with all the methods I have tried. I never found the correct methods but ultimately it lead me to where I'm at today. I cannot even begin to go into depth with all the different theories and methods that I have practiced. I do think Affiliate Marketing isn't for everyone. Most people would like to be successful at it and some really do make it. For others it never happens. Btw, the last six months was an all or nothing effort for me. I have done Affiliate Marketing before during the last 2 years. I'm not trying to complain or discourage those trying to make it with Affiliate Marketing. Just expressing my story and hopefully let people know there are countless ways to make money online. Those who continue to struggle will fall face first into what works for them if they never give up. That is the golden truth....

The Grind is always easier than getting bank. So do what you are comfortable with. 2 years to try to make it in online marketing, especially if you are buying the crap available, is not long enough(Although you should be doing much better than that) to see if you have it in you.

If you figure out the right ways and work them in 6 months you will impress yourself. Note:Figure out your own ways... Means anything for free or for sale by a guru is likely crap.

Open your eyes and see where they take you. You might be surprised!

Whatever though. MickeyD's is an easy $1200 per month too.

I love the fact that you didn't give up. You knew you had to bring money to the table and you did.

For what it's worth, it took me 8 months before I started making money online.

Now I am making about 1.3k on autopilot. It takes time to make money on autopilot, but you can do it on the side while you continue writing.

If you want help, you will definitely get it from me. I am open to giving you advice and helping you. Just PM me and let me know which chat client I can contact you on.

Haha, MickeyD's is an easy $1200. I would rather sit at home in my underwear and write part time to make that money. And it is just the beginning. I see potential for growth. I'm sure many people would probably rather write than work at MickeyD's, I could be wrong? lol....

I'm full aware of all the guru crap taking advantage of new Affiliate Marketers. There is a lot of crap out there, and they make a lot money off of newbies.
