Hey guys.

I have a couple of local websites here in South Africa.

Now my question is, for Google rankings, will .com or local .co.za links be better for rankings?

I know the bettet TF, DA, CF etc is the better but if say 2 sites have the same stats which will be better rankings wise.

And will it negatively affect my website if all links are only .com and no local links.

Thanks and have a blessed day further

.co.za will have an advantage from my experience.

I have never seen any sort of penalty for this if that's what you mean.

At the same time, it is not very natural looking and I would add some to link profile.

There should be at least a few local directories available. Get links from those.

Yes off course backlinks

Google prioritizes local results when users have local intent. your websites are local to South Africa, a .co.za domain is ideal for local SEO.
It helps you rank better for searches within South Africa.

When I did a quick celebrity style blog for SA, I used .co.za and picked up quickly over .com domains. If your target is SA, go with .co.za.

If two links have identical metrics like TF, DA, and CF, a .co.za link might edge out slightly for local relevance.

when i target ranking local keywords such as electrician vienna (austria) i made the experience that a domain with an .at ending.

so the domain ending .at, .com, .co.uk etc. does matter in which country u want to rank for.
