Hey guys, can anyone tell me if cold emailing is legal and what consequences can i get? Some people say i can get huge fines because of that while some other say that i can do it without any problem..

What are your opinions?

I even tried to write to lemlist support and they told me that its totally fine to cold email, so who is wrong and who is right??

It depends on who you are sending the emails to, what the content and purpose of the email is, what the geolocation of the recipient is etc. Spam is illegal, cold emailing is not. There is a difference.

check the legislation of your country's list

it changes between america and europe

Make sure to add some kind of link or way for people to unsubscribe from future emails. This will save you from potential grief.

but if i will re-use same emails for different campgains, then it will be pain to each time manually remove those unsubscribed emails.. maybe its possible to automate it somehow?

You can contact most businesses without any issues as they are open for business queries. But for customers, cold mailing requires some precautions. You need to follow certain rules like having an unsubscribe button/link, business address etc. The fines vary from country to country. It's better not to use your real details when there is a risk.

Depends on what country you're in, but not illegal in US if you follow these tips:

Don’t use false or misleading header information. Your “From,” “To,” “Reply-To,” and routing information – including the originating domain name and email address – must be accurate and identify the person or business who initiated the message.

Don’t use deceptive subject lines. The subject line must accurately reflect the content of the message.

Identify the message as an ad. The law gives you a lot of leeway in how to do this, but you must disclose clearly and conspicuously that your message is an advertisement.

Tell recipients where you are located. Your message must include your valid physical postal address. This can be your current street address, a post office box you’ve registered with the U.S. Postal Service, or a private mailbox you’ve registered with a commercial mail receiving agency established under Postal Service regulations.

Monitor what others are doing on your behalf. The law makes clear that even if you hire another company to handle your email marketing, you can’t contract away your legal responsibility to comply with the law. Both the company whose product is promoted in the message and the company that actually sends the message may be held legally responsible.

It's legal until a random angry person reports you.

If someone feels somehow bothered by your unsolicited mail, then it's no longer legal because they never consented.

Let's make it simple
-B2B cold mailing is legal
-Spamming is illegal
-Scamming is illegal
as simple as that

If scraping data is illegal in your country hire someone from an unrestricted country to gather "leads" for you.
Come on man, it's not pushing drugs.

It changes from geo to geo, are you referring to the US, Europe or Africa? The rules are completely different in each place.

Either way I personally do it by connecting a mailbox of a different domain than my main one to the email software (I use outreachbin they help me avoid spam boxes), then I collect emails only from relevant sources (competitors YT followers for example) and I invest A LOT in making sure my messaging is short, value-making and engaging so people would prefer to respond instead of marking it as spam.

Is it 100% safe? This forum is called black hat world, it isn't 100% safe by definition when you ask about methods here :)
