    Yeah, coffee grinds.

We use an iCoffee machine here and do not use the k-cups that you buy in the store but rather the ones that are refillable. Part of the reason is because those things are littering landfills all across the world and part of the reason is because I'm cheap and it is less expensive to use the refillable ones.

I actually have a clear vinyl 5/8" hose in the back yard that I use to clean them so we do not get a garden hose smell on them when I wash them out on a daily basis.

Some of the grinds go in our composter and some I save for the bushes in the front. Most people just throw out their grinds but they are doing a disservice to their flowering bushes if they have any.

Here is the result of coffee grinds for fertilizer for one of our azaleas.

Hop on the coffee grinds train folks... you are getting free fertilizer and will have bushes that look like they are on the 13th hole at Augusta.

I'll have to move this to the BST approval forum and get it reviewed by @Apricot or @WilhelmScream if that happens.

That would require me to find out how to properly package and how to ship azalea bushes to England from Florida so they stay intact and don't get damaged.

that's easy, use plastic bottles for the cuttings, with a little water in them, seal with tape. Bottles can be recycled then.

Are you an authorized, bonafide, professional, quality azalea cuttings shipping professional?

If so can I hire you to handle the shipping?

Or would it be cheaper for me to pay for one of them to fly over here, have lunch with my wife and I, and do a hands on inspection and then fly them back so they can approve or disapprove the BST?

funnily enough that's how my local garden centre does it, they ship all over the place using the plastic bottles. Rose cuttings too. Reusing plastic bottles for packaging

    Coffee grounds.
    Egg shells.
    Banana peels.

I throw all of these things directly onto my azaleas, roses, and other bushes.

I also run a pot of water through the used grounds after I drink my coffee in the morning and use it in the evening to water my garden/herbs. My lavender, kale, and tomatoes went nuts last year for caffeine water.

Our banana peels, egg shells (not store bought eggs as we buy from a local and they are unwashed shells), any vegetable left overs from cleaning... they all go into the composter.

Hmmm. I'm going to need to see evidence that your azalea growth is due to your coffee grounds method and not the result of a previous service.

Do you have an azalea control group for comparison? Or before and after pictures?

Otherwise I'll need pictures of you carrying out the coffee application method - please include a sign that mentions BHW for verification purposes.

That is a huge pain to do.

I just wanted to see what it felt like to give you the kind of feedback you sometimes get in the BST approval subfourm.

    Kind of felt good.

Damn, you got me looking out my window just now thinking, where could i put a compost in the garden that wouldn't upset the neighbors,
and could I add some nice flowers or new bushes, to what is a garden that could do with a little makeover.

I've only just started using the local compost recycling bins, but i'm not sure if they even get picked up, i've never seen them being emptied,
so would be much more environmentally friendly for me to start a little compost.

You can pick one of these up for around 100.00 I believe.

We paid 20.00 as it was for sale in a local FB swip swap group.

It's at the north end of our property against the fence which butts up against a vacant lot and hidden behind the dock house so it is not even visible.

Throw some dirt and leaves in there, maybe some grass clippings from the early spring before you start your fertilization process, add all your organics, mix things up once a month or so and you'll have a great compost pile that will work for a lot of different scenarios.

always add grass cuttings, that helps build heat, my compost caught fire last year. Best have two, one in use and one left for 1 year. You'll have great compost then.
