"Code is poetry", unless you're on a Mac, then it's pulp fiction, in a foreign language.

I can't take it. Mac computers can't do shit but surf the damn net! (half of the time). It's one of those little (cute) paper-weight ones too. I'm going punt the damn thing out the window and never touch a Mac again!
All I want to do is code some web-pages and modify some script. Is that to much to ask? I guess so if I am using a Mac.
    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!:smashfrea

......and that's all I have to say....about that...

I feel a little better, but not much.... not much at all.

I'm not a huge fan of mac myself, but what's wrong with it? Just get vim or emacs and code away.

actually mac has its advantages. Mac is actually unix with adons. Basically mac/unix/linux >>>>> windows for everything except games.

What problems do you have with coding?? I'm a cpsc major and we usually use unix to code, not windows, so mac is actually better.. I have better coding programs for mac than any1 I know that uses windows.. Let me know what you are having problems with and maybe I can help you out. And yes you can get dreamweaver for mac.. Get xcode for coding C/C++.

I say get windows for games, get a mac or unix for everything else.

It's like, if I need to quick fix (code or something), on a PC, I open a simple text editor. For Mac, it's like some sort of a production. It can be done, but it is....... very much an ordeal.
I guess getting Dreamweaver is the answer, but still, I hate that I would have to open a huge program like Dreamweaver to redirect a link on my home page.
    NUTS!

@Luke: Thank you for the offer, it is very kind of you, but I am going to hop on the PC to fix this. Like I said, it's something simple that for some reason becomes complicated on Mac. I know Mac has advantages. I photoshop, edit movies, publish, etc. on Mac.
It's just that I am ready to blow it up it more often than not. I don't seem to have the problems with the PC that I do with this freakin Mac.
    That's all....

just write some php in a text editor. You dont need dreamweaver, it just helps a bit.

edit: Uhhhh you know you can just open up your code in a mac text editor (try textEdit), save it and everything will be fixed, right. Not only windows can do that.. Maybe download textwrangler if you dont like textEdit

tip: master the terminal and then you have unix and mac on the same machine! (partition your HD and put windows on it and then you have all 3)

I think its cuz maybe you are very used to windows like we all are. I agree windows was easier to use because I grew up with it like most people, but now that I am slowly learning unix and shit I find how much more easier mac actually makes things. There is so much more freedom to do shit on a mac than there is on windows. Its much easier to manipulate things and make your computer work the way u want it to. Windows is more like a gaming system. It's more like a newb's computer lol. But don't worry, get windows as well, and when u finally learn how to run a computer behind the scenes you will enjoy your mac alot more :)

Windows Fanboys. When will they shut up? :yield:

Not directed at anyone in this thread. Just in general. I'm so sick of Windows users says Mac users are fanboys.

That makes no sense. With Pc you open a simple text editor (notepad), with mac you can open a simple text editor too (text edit). It's the exact same process.

If you want an in-depth coding program, I recommend "Coda". It's the #1 coding program for the mac.

    http://www.panic.com/coda/

It's gorgeous and intuitive and is EXACTLY why I use a mac. There is no software like this for Windows.

Chill Jason. It's OK. There is no need for hostility. By the way, your avatar.... the cord that he has chewed through is white. Is that the power cord to a Mac? I believe that mouse has the right idea;)

Shit, don't people use the frigging terminal anymore? Learn VI, it'll be the best tool you use as a coder. When your IDE uses more resources than the latest Half Life game, you have a problem. ::couVISUAL STUDIOgh::

I use macs at school, and I swear it's like bizarro superman- everything's to be made the opposite just for the sake of being.. opposite. You close windows on the left instead of the right, your taskbar is at the top of the screen instead of the bottom, etc, etc..

Don't you mean Windows did everything opposite just to be opposite? You do know that OS was out before Windows, right? Oh you don't?

I have only seen one corporate environment use mac. And they were graphic designers; go figure. Other than that, mac can't handle the raw power that is needed to run a major corporate network. I have seen a lot of business networks.

lol how can you say that unix lacks the power needed? LOL!? First of all what do you mean by power?? If you mean programming freedom then you're dead wrong my friend. Mac is much more customizable and lower level than windows. (lower level means closer to the hardware, more fundamental)

Forget it Luke, some people are too ignorant to understand the basics of computers - explaining it is like teaching a mouse what electricity is. :)

oh my god, are you serious? Microsoft owns the corporate environment strictly because of political/business reasons. it has absolutely nothing to do with anything technical.

APPLE DOES NOT SELL ENTERPRISE SERVER EQUIPMENT. They have a consumer oriented business plan.

**disclaimer** I am not an apple fan boy, i'm a unix/linux fanboy.
