I have a .csv datafeed which i want to put in to a thousand odd html pages incorporating the data.

Such a noob question but what software is best, ive done alot of googling and found webmerge but ive found it tricky to customise.

Any pointers would be great because im spending alot of time researching this.

    Cheers,

    Chris

just want to clarify you have a csv file that you want to turn into a html page for each record?

ie upload the data to database and spit it back out again as pages?

theres a couple of plugins for joomla that can do that i believe... would have to double check, but am working on something similar myself

Kind of, it doesnt need to be put into a database as such, i just need to get individual HTML pages from each row of CSV data so that each product has its own page incorporating its picture, a description, price etc, all of which is in the CSV.

I just need a user friendly program thats going to do what i want.

A friend has done this for exactly the same company as an affiliate using a PERL script but he passed away...

its probably more efficient to import the data into a database then to keep having your site open that file and extract each record for each page

you can easily import your csv file into a database using phpmyadmin and then use basic php to extract the data and display it in your pages... not sure how familiar you are with code...

if you really didnt want to use a database you could still use the php function fgetcsv() there are a ton of example of how to implement this but like i metioned for 1000s of records i think using the database is the best option

You might be better off just hiring a programmer to do it off one of the freelance sites. Shouldn't cost much.

Exactly! This is a very easy task. Just go to GAF and ask somebody to write a simple script for you, this is really very easy. 30$-50$, should not cost more.

Okay, so going down the database route seems more logical to me, can anyone suggest some good programs (im willing to pay) that can give me some sort of GUI, coding isnt my forte!

Baring in mind i already have mysql setup on a windows server.

    Thanks for the pointers!

You could use wordpress and import all the data as wordpress posts. This would be very simple and would give you a GUI. You would just need to pay someone to create a plugin to import the csv as posts. I could write this for you if you want me to. I'm not cheap though.

Several Wordpress plugins for this. All listed at the main WP site....

Many CMS systems have this capability too. Some do it live, some just convert from a feed you save to a file.

Hit the big G for datafeedr or adps, or wpdfi Or just query for "affiliate datafeed import"

Tons of stuff that all work. Some free, some pay.

I think what you are looking for can be found here.
    Code:
    http://www.internet-soft.com/dataques.htm
I have been looking for something like this also...for the past few days. I've been toying around with the trial version which allows 10 pages to be run at once. I'm still looking for other alternatives since this will set you back about $50.

However, I have thought of getting a coder as well but that will probably cost about the same and you don't know if it will work right...at least you get to try this version.

    Cheers
