    The Background

I am a graphic designer and I have been with IM for 2 years, made some money with many methods (PPD, Adsense, CPA, etc..), but you know they don't last long. So I always try to struggle the way to get REAL passive income and last long. Then I decided to be an author on Themeforest. When your items got approved, they will last forever (or at least until Envato dies ;)), that means you will get sales time by time.

I don't know anything about coding so the only thing I can sell on Themeforest is PSD templates, that will be my starting point.

    The Game Plan

    • Make an author account on Themeforest
    • Try to research for the popular niche
    • Try to research for design trend
    • Download some other author's templates to see how they are doing
    • Start designing my very first PSD template
    • Try to promote them to get more sales

    Stats Update

I will try my best to update stats everyday and the things I have done for that day also, so please support me by asking questions that you have. That will REALLY help me motivated to continue to work.

    Deadline

    January 1[SUP]st[/SUP], 2014

    What I have done today

I just made an account on Themeforest and took a quick quiz to become an author. Uploaded avatar and banner as well on author's page
    Here is my profile URL
    Code:
    http://themeforest.net/user/cobias
Took a look on popular files of PSD templates and figured out most of templates that have nice sales are using flat designs.
Just a quick searched on google and I saw this website
    Code:
    http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/inspiration/flat-web-design-inspiration/
Seemed it's a good point to start.

I will try to look for some concepts for my template's homepage tomorrow.

    What I have done today

I have only 2 hours per day to do this stuff because I have a full-time job, so I tried to do everything as fast as possible, of course the quality must be "acceptable" :D
Okay, today I tried to look around to look for some concepts for my very first template.
    I saw this one
    Code:
    http://themeforest.net/item/creative-minds-one-page-portfolio-template/4149250
Actually, it's pretty simple and nice too. I think one page template will be easier for me to start and take less time than a complete website.
So I decided to make one page portfolio template that's using flat design.
Then I went to google and searched some free flat icon to use for my project.
Tomorrow, I will make homepage for my template, hope I have enough time to finish it.

    Stay tuned!

Hey COBB... creative journey you've got here.

I see you already mentioned the one page website templates. May I also suggest that you look at the Marketing Category, specifically the landing pages. Landing pages are about the same as one page websites and this category is very popular. At some point in the future, you may want to team up with someone who can code your designs (or just hire a freelancer to code them for you.)

    Cheering for ya ;)

Thank you so much for your suggestion, I have looked at the Marketing Category before, but all of them are HTML template and I have no idea how to coding :D. That's why I want to make PSD template first to have some items in my portfolio, then I will find someone to make partnership and we will share 50/50. That's my plan :D

I found that the simple, fast, but very customizable themes are very popular, having an optimized mobile theme is a plus as well.
Good luck! I hope you meet your goal before the deadline!
