There is a domain name available in .co and .eu, my question is that is it worth buying one or both in terms of SEO? The reason being that the owner of the .com domain has it parked and is being a tool and won't sell it me. I'm targeting us and uk google.

Is it worth buying them and can I rank above .co.uk and .com with a .co or .eu tld?

    Thanks

I would suggest you to get an EMDx.com instead of buying a .eu or a .co domain.

Eu and Co are equally good, i've had very good success with both extensions.

TLD's have very little to do with ranking. If you are looking to protect your brand then buy both.....
Build and develop your co.uk site to rank in the SERP and point the .eu domain at the co.uk..... Alternatively you could do it the other way round. Ranking will be due to the SEO factors on and off of your site and won't have much to do with the TLD.
Ideal situation is if you can get your keywords into the domain. It will help in the early days while your site gains 'age authority' your ranking on engines other than google.

Worth pointing out that you need to live in a European Union country in order to be able to register a .eu domain

I bought my first .eu domain and hosting for it from a US web host a week ago - they immediately cancelled the invoice for "fraud" - had to explain I'm based in UK and entitled to register a .eu domain

I was reluctant to register a .eu domain in case the European Union collapses (I wish) - but apart from .co and .xxx, there were no other exact match domains left

As another poster points out, tld has little to do with things (but .info domains seem to be doomed from the start)

I have read that a .co.uk domain is a benefit for targeting UK visitors - probably same goes with .ca for targeting Canadian visitors, etc. - but that's not a search thing, more a click thing

I've ranked some .co in my times but again people may say that TLD doesnt matter but it just depends on the user. .CO looks close enough to .com so I'll go for it but the thing is renewal of these domains are expensive, i just renewed and paid $25 for a .co

It is a search thing, if you have a country specific domain you will rank in that country. Its very unlikely you will rank high in another countries Google results if you have a different Geo targeted TLD.

e.g trying to rank in UK Google if you have a .ca domain

.co's have a good future I think. The emd will help rankings over emdx.com. Slightly less people will click on a .co, but the better rankings will make up for that.

The more we use them, especially for our better sites, the more trust they get. The only problem with .co's is lack of recognition and trust. Technically, it's like the best extension in the world, .com, except shorter. The original .com stood for "company" and so does .co.

.com always been the first choice but if you opt for u.k then you can get the .co and .eu , the main is it should be keyword rich , as .com's are easy preferable than other

Right, can't say I've paid much attention to it

Thing to do then is forget exact match domain names and go for best .com you can register - just get your primary keyword in there somewhere

I suspect exact match domains are finished for SEO anyway - too many people using them now

If you are targeting a country for a CPA offer because the offer is only for citizens of that country, then probably worth going with the country tld if you can legally register it
