Hey guys. Im looking for a CMS that handles downloadable files(zip files). And has a membership plugin that changes the membership type to premium when the user pays via paypal. I am currently using e107 and it sucks.

    Thanks!

Joomla - there are several combinations of membership / downloads plugins that would work for this depending on your exact needs.

    Use Wordpress and Whishlist.

It is a Wordpress plugin (the best, as I have heard).

    Give it a try.

Use Wordpress with DAP (digital access pass) or Wishlist. DAP is much better but more expensive.
For Joomla there are a number of plugins that work well but I like Might Extensions Membership the best. Use AEC for a simple solution.

Check out DotNetNuke (www.dotnetnuke.com). The community version is free and has a repository module that will do what you're looking for. The documents module is a little more simple, but will work as well. DNN requires an ASP.NET/SQL hosting plan. If the included modules won't work for you, check out www.snowcovered.com for a ton of 3rd party modules.

If you're a developer, there are quite a few resources to get you started with developing your own modules in ASP.NET/VB (please no C# is better than VB arguments -- I didn't pick the language).
