Closing Offline Webdesign Leads without any website or incorporation.

Im finding a lot of leads for people who want web designs and getting into discussions of the job details but when I find myself getting to the point of sales i dont know if i should ask for them to just paypal me the money or something- I know this sounds real lame but its a problem I've been encountering. I want to know what would be the best way to close these deals over E-mail. I dont have a website , I'm not incorporated as yet andcurrently just sending emails to people who are looking for web designers with a pre made email template and reference websites.

I would say do some kind of invoiceing such as freshbooks to send it to them via e-mail and have them pay that way!

If you can't afford to incorporate, get a DBA as an individual and a matching Freshbooks account for billing. Your profile says you're in NY... I did a quick Google and the filing fee is $100 for the DBA + $19 a mo for Freshbooks (you can use it in conjunction with a free PP account).

Also be open to Checks and Bank Transfers, most people don't mind sending that to an individual; some people DO mind using PayPal, especially when it becomes a largeish transaction.

Yea i came to deciding that after doing research of my owns also, incorporating would take too long right now. That sounds like the best solution at the moment to build credibility with clients.

Can u do a 1099?

I was in the exact same situation as you when I started out with web design about a year ago.
I kinda gave my first client the option of PayPal or just writing me a check to my personal name. I used PayPal to create the invoices, pretty slick. Shortly after that I registered a business name and now I use a card swiper and my iPhone to accept most payments, Kudos, Payfirma, Square, and PayPal all offer a swiper and app for iPhone.
