I have a membership site with dropping traffic and rankings. I don't believe that getting shitty links from seo services anymore is the way to go, can't see how that is going to help my site long term. Fucking google keeps updating algos, so even if you get a bunch of shitty links now and maybe you see some results, who knows, next month you might be penalized. I have bought some of these seo services in the past and now wish I didn't, they are likely hurting my site.

What I was thinking about doing is making a copy of my site and starting over. Change most of the content and get a new domain, but have the backend be the same as the original site and use the same paypal account. Sucks to have to try and start from scratch but at least this way I can focus on creating quality links and not worry about how all those shitty seo services are going to effect my rankings. Fucking unreadable garbage articles with shitty 2nd tier links from some chinese website... like that is really going to help!

Anyways, I don't want to get rid of the original site yet because it is still making a profit but all from paid traffic. I get almost zero organic traffic from google since my keywords lost rank. If I run both sites on the same hostgator shared plan (baby plan) and the same paypal account, same backend (which i block google from crawling), will there be any issues with similarity or anything? Don't want to go through the work if google is going to see right through this anyways.

You could try changing the domain and 301 the old domain to the new.

Keep the site and start creating great content and you will start ranking up again. Of find the links and get them deleted is another option.

The site isn't built around around content. It's more of a service that members join to use. There isn't much else I can do to add more content the way it's set up now.

Right now I am looking at disavowing a lot of my old links. Regardless, I was thinking of copying the site anyways with a different name and approach and seeing how the sales go. Couldn't hurt my odds of a sale going to me, through either site.

You are on the right track disavowing old links that are no longer working and what you can do is add links from safe
closed networks that do exist. Create blogs with high quality content that direct traffic to your membership site and work on building
    several tiers.
