I want to use open-source labeled for reuse profile pictures as fake personas for some of my blogs and websites. The issue is that anyone with half a brain can right click the image and search google for it and destroy my credibility when it comes up in google images under stock photo.

I've tried various ways to change the picture but google is so good at recognizing them. Is there any way around this?
    Thanks!

Thanks! I actually read this thread, but the techniques such as checkerboard would make a facial profile photo look very weird

If flipping it doesn't work, use Photoshop(or gimp-free) and use a soften filter, then blur a little along the hair line, then sharpen, and boom not recognizable.

Alternate idea -- offer like $0.10 to $5 USD for people to take a webcam picture of themselves and to send it to you.

Or even just take like 30 pictures of yourself at different angles, in different rooms, maybe change your clothes around some, put sunglasses on in a few, put filters on some of them, etc. If these are for Web 2.0 sites, that would probably be good enough.

@twpro: One way is alter the images. Flipping horizontally usually does the trick, i think this is mentioned in the article above. Maybe it doesn't do the trick with facial images, because if it's a close up, flipping horizontally won't do much, our faces are close to symmetrical. Although if it's not a close up and there is some background too, it might work.

Another way to do it, if you select image sources, which are not indexed on Google. Such image source is Instagram for instance, just ask the person, if you can use their pics or no, if you want to do it by the book.

Just screw with it in the "liquefy" feature of photoshop. Move the eyes closer and mess with the shape of the eyes nose and mouth. What is the hard part here?
