I recently decided to hide my PBN network from the usual spiders (majestic, ahrefs, etc) so that my competitors wouldn't report my sites or get weird on me.

However I noticed that after hiding a number of these sites from those spiders via an .htaccess, my rankings seem to have dropped a little bit.

Coincidence? Does Google take metrics from these sites into account? Has anyone else had this occur?

No messages in webmaster tools about any manual actions, etc.

I was using this which I got from this forum:

If Google deemed any of those even closely related to relevant, they would either:
    a) duplicate
    b) buy the company - whats a few mil here or there to big G?

Anything else happened that might explain the rank drop? Link loss? link loss on your PBNs ?

There's must be another explanation, I've got over a hundred PBNs with .htaccess block and everything is fine for me.

    Looks like link loss.

Thanks for the replies guys. So ways to reverse this would just be to build more links?

I hadn't noticed that any major links to my money site were lost but could be that links to my PBN sites were lost. Will check on that.
