I have a couple clients that I know personally so I always took payment at end of the month or even after 2-3 months at a time. But took on a pretty big new client and was wondering do most SEO companies take the payment at the beginning of the month for upcoming services? Or at the end of the month for what was done for the month? I want to try and get on a better schedule, even with the ones I"m doing already and get automatic payments coming in so I'm not chasing down anyone.

best way is to get 50% upfront and 50% after completion

I personally always take payment upfront, but there are times where I will bill them on a net 30. I use this as a sales tactic for bigger clients to get them in the door, since most marketing companies are pay up front. This is almost like a 30 day trial. Caveat being, make sure you get something in writing.

    depends on your contry.
    .de is very strict here.
you dont pay? you just sue. takes a year, you pay the cost upfront, but you get all your cost covered by the loser.

only caveat: if the dude you worked for goes bankrupt.

had one client, that tryd to bullshit me. send him one attorney letter, he paid 5 days after :) including the cost of attorney.

so for me, no. If I do international, which i am to lazy, i would charge up front.

Thanks. I know them close enough I'll just do end of the month if that is common.

    Tell me more about gocardless.

First month I now take upfront then flip them to net 30

I found it gives a little trust between and it kinda gives two months for you to get ROI for them so they're happy to pay

It all depends upon your relationship with them. End of month billing is fine but where there is a risk, you could take 50% or even 100% upfront

It's great. It allows you to set up a direct debit very easily - you create a package in the dashboard - like SEO £x/month, then you put in customers email and it emails them, they fill in bank and sort code and that's it. DD set up.

Works really well for me, easy to get recurring payment set up and looks very professional to the customer.

we take 100% upfront via Paypal. As paypal offer buyer protection, client feels safe that way.

once we have a good relation with client then we put them on recurring mode after their written consent
