Client wants me to contact admins to link back to their site - any suggestions/experience?

He's looking for high PR links from other travel related sites. Do you have any experience? Any ideas how to make it easier?

I can reveal the niche is travelling as that's where he's looking for links from. I took his keywords and scraped the 20 first results in google and took their backlinks and ran them through SB's PR checker as a start. I'll then get the whois info as well to try and make the task easier and then hire somebody from freelancer or whatever they're called.

Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions =)

I believe Link Assistant from SEO Powersuite automates this (crack available in tools section, or through google)

I get about 3 emails per day. I spam them in gmail because they're automated. The only way is to buy links unless your client has a reason to link to him.

Exercise in futility and some will charge big time, they are better ways to get backlinks.
