Here's a new annoying thing, just like Facebook, Youtube now has a redirection warning. I have significantly fewer clicks than before, do you experience the same thing?

I'm not sure how that would cause a significant drop in clicks/traffic? It just says it's directing the clicker out of YouTube, not that the website could contain spam/malware etc.

With that simple message, I wouldn't think it would decrease click throughs by 20%, but I could be wrong. Are you sure an account of yours wasn't disabled, or a video that was receiving a lot of views is not getting the same amount anymore? I find it very hard to believe that this would decrease traffic any more than 1-5%.

I've seen it 2 days ago for the first time, please tell me more about your first encounter, when was it? :)

My videos are OK, they rank on the same spot as a week ago, nothing changed. The views/day rate is the same too, but the clicks have dropped. I don't see other explanation. Please see this:

Does this go for all your links? That would suck majorly, I can see quite a significant drop in click-throughs with this.

Does anyone know the exact date that this change was put in place by YouTube?

If I remember well the first time I saw this message was about 6 months ago. But I was logged on my account when I clicked on the link, so if you're not logged in and click on the link, I think you will not be redirected.

Click on a random link under a video and you will see it.

Just clicked on a clearly spammy link (MMO niche) while being both logged in and out, that warning didn't appear. Maybe it's just for USA ips?

Yeah but not just my links, it goes for all outbound links on Youtube. The funny thing is that my earnings have not dropped (CPA) and my CR doubled, this thing weeds out the uncertain people :), but for those who use YT as a traffic source for their Adsense site, this change is not great at all.

Yeah, they are shortened, but ALL links on YT are redirected in the same way now.

It does not matter what kind of links you use, the redirect notice will appear, but there is a good thing about using your domain without shortening, a higher percentage of users will click on that link on the redirection page.

I've seen a 34% drop in traffic. What I'm hoping is the majority of the people in that 34% would never have signed up in the first place. If that's the case, I'm sure income will decline, but it will hopefully not plummet.

It appears for me from Eastern European IPs, you are right, I see now that from other IPs that notice does not appear, they are probably testing it on selected users, just like their new layout.

Can you please test if the warning appears even if you copy and paste the link or if you manually write in in the URL bar?

Just tested it from a USA IP address and didn't come up for me when clicking a link. Maybe it's just all non-USA clickers.

If I copy an URL and paste it in the URL bar, there will be no connection to Youtube when the HTTP request is made, but if I copy the actual link location, whitch is a YT redirect URL, the notice will show up.
