Ok. So here's the deal. Two weeks ago, I made my first sale using clickbank. It was $26.98. Needless to say I was very happy and excited. This weekend (March 12-15) I installed Google Adwords. I've been putting my ads out there for my products, and have over 8,000 keywords that all pertain to my ads. Every day I get around 100 clicks. And to be on the front page, google says that the highest bidder is $0.45... so I put them at $0.47... Well needless to say I'm on a $30.00 budget. Now, I made another sale of my other product, that racked in 17.98.

Now my total sales have accumulated up to $46.98. However, I checked on google today, and I have been charged $66.95 dollars, because so many people have clicked my ads. Well this is understandable. But out of 119 hops, only 6 have gone to order submission, 3 have submitted, and I've only made 1 freaking sale.

Somebody needs to tell me what I'm doing wrong. The product that I'm being an affiliate to is very well laid out, it's got a high gravity, and it's very well laid out, the seller obviously took the time to put a lotta effort not only into the product page, but the selling page as well.

Somebody needs to tell me what I need to do. Because now I'm just losing money. Please and thanks!

did you research those 8000 keywords? it just sounds like you have too many keywords that just don't convert.

I'm no ppc wiz, but when I do use it I split test. I use like 5 keywords on 5 different ads, if I did my research right I should have a winning ad in there that I can focus on.

thats very easy, you are targeting the wrong keywords in adword and your ads might not be as targeted, are you using exact matched or broad?, be very careful with adwords, i would recommend less keywords, more research on your keywords and demographics or you are going to loose a lot of money,

Yea. I did. Extensively from two weeks ago, up to this point. And those keywords are all the highest releavent searches for the products I'm selling. And yes, I am a noob... that's why I'm asking for help....

Update: Currently I'm doing what everybody is saying and re-fining my keywords. I'm deleting all those that aren't straight to the point.

less is more. just because a keyword gets a lot of searches does not make it a good one to target btw.

Ok... so thanks guys for everything. I'm gonna see what happens tonight.

    I made the following changes.

1.) Reduced Keywords from 8,000 to 15. The 15, were the highest ones that were searched and happened to be clicked on today that were actually relevant.

2.) I changed the "time for ads" to 2 P.M. to 11 P.M. Simply because all the clicks were while kids were at school today and crap so it was probably a bunch of teenagers clicking and not intending to buy anything, so this will hopefully make my demographic more available to people who will actually buy it.

3.) Lowered CPC bid 3 cents so that I can save a LITTLE LITTLE LITTLE money in the long run haha

Also my niche is in the gaming department. Hopefully we'll see if I make some sales tomorrow. I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow! Thanks guys! Any suggestions later will help, as I'll be reading them in morning!

First of all - CONGRATS - To get that first sale is worthy. Takes marketers a long time to do that. As for the list of 8k keywords, not much info to go on. Lowering bid amount (slowly) try to stay at high position. Keep testing 2nd ad to beat the first. Make sure ads have keywords in title, body and URL. You are close to having a winner sounds like.

dude, don't use adwords when you have no idea... you will lose a lot.

And you can still make sales without forking money.
Remember.. I've manage to get over 5-6k in 14 weeks without a site, without seo knowledge, without articles, and without any expense.

Ok. So apparently the time change didn't do crap. I got 167 clicks today, and no sales. But the time started at 2.

I reduced it down to 4 p.m. start time.

I have now lost an additional $19.28...

Somebody needs to let me know what to do, I've tried everything you guys have suggested and in order to keep going with this, I need to see some improvements guys. I've put a lotta effort into this. Please help

8000 keywords for a SINGLE product? Are u kiddin me?:D

Common man take some adword lessons , there are so many free out here.

    Some pointers -

    1. Go to google trends and analyze the traffic and CTR on your keywords, remove the ones with low CTRs.

    2. Judging Keywords CTR to Actual Conversion ratio is an art which comes by experience, right now I would suggest you to see what your competitors are bidding on and how well they are converting on leads.

    3. Finallly Research, Research and Research.. Success is not a days job!

    This is why you fail.

Besides that fact, you've told us no where near enough details with regard to what you're specifically doing for us to be of any help. There are hundreds of different variables that go into why or why not something sells.

If you are going to use Google to bring in PPC traffic then read about Quality Score there is a very good PDF in the downloads section that tells you how to get a QS of 10. That means your costs per click will be very low compared to what you are paying now.

8000 kw IS CRAZY even 15 is to much, just use the best one and read the QS PDF. Also if you don't know how to use Google ads you will loose money. Try some other PPC campaigns, facebook will send good targeted traffic for the game niche.

15 is definitely not too many keywords. Although I agree on 8000, that's ridiculous.

STOP! You should just hand google your money before entering into the lions den without proper training. You obviously don't know enough to be using google adwords because you "think" you can master it because it sounds SO SIMPLE.

If you conducted proper research you would have known that 8,000 KW would just provide useless clicks and burn your money. Since you've made your first sale, I suggest you take that as a positive note and place your campaign on pause and go study, study, study then study some more before you just hand google your money.

It is better to stay with slow system than loosing money in fast system.
Google adword is money wasting program if you are selling product but if you are promoting payperlead affiliate product or you need to popularize your product/website, you can go for Google adword.

There are many online programs that even better than clickbank program like Commission Junction, Bidvertizer etc.
You can check them here: http://www.moneyforweb.blogspot.com
