I have some clients that are finally starting to catch on to the fact that if you want to compete in advertising, you have to stand out. Local television and radio commercials are typically obnoxious and stupid. A good ad doesn't necessarily have to cost a fortune, and just because you spent a lot does not make it good. I am creating a swipe file of advertising that stands out. If you can ad to this list, I would appreciate it. There are advertising sites that have these but I assume the average person on the street is an idiot, and most of the people here are smart. So far I have:

Geico cavemen
Geico gecko
Budweiser frogs
The talking stain
Free credit report dot com singing guy
The wheres the beef old lady

Mazda - Zoom Zoom Zoom
Bud Light - Magic/Secret Fridge
Air Jordans - MJ and Spike Lee
Priceline.com - William Shatner

The Doritos Chick
Taco Bell Dog
Life Alert "Ive fallen and I cant get up"
The Clapper
Energizer Bunny
Got Milk?
"This is your brain on drugs"...the frying pan commercial

Chia Pets
The Garden Weasel
Mentos (even though I want to kill myself every time I hear the song, it sticks in your mind)
The Axe body spray stuff has pretty mentally sticky commercials
The Mac vs. PC stuff has been pretty great
99% of all Superbowl commercials

Most of these that have been mentioned aren't strictly commercials trying to sell a product though. They are branding efforts designed to sell you on the value and reliability of a company.

Branding is extremely important even for (I might even say particularly for) small, new businesses.

Sales is even more important though. :)
This is a great thread Buzzkill.
