I have a legit profile on twitter for a legit, white hat site that i intend to promote via twitter. I also have a cj account that I promote heavily on that site. If I use my twitter account to pimp something from CJ and don't bother to cloak or redirect (just use the cj hoplink in my tweet), will CJ allow this?

are you doing:

twitter -> white hat site -> CJ affiliate

or

twitter -> CJ affiliate

If it's the former, i dont think there is anything you would have to worry about, as they wouldn't have any way of knowing the traffic came from twitter to begin with.

If it's the latter, i think it depends on the specific advertiser. I would check and see if it explicitely prohibits social networking traffic.

well currently i'm doing
twit -> wh site -> cj aff

but was hoping to skip that middle step. i know it's probably not allowed but figured i'd try it...not so sure now.

just do twitter --> metarefresh redirect --> cj aff.
itll block the referal and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Like shooting star said, if they allow social traffic then by all means do twitter --> cj
If they dont say whether they allow social traffic or not, ask them.

Just out of curiousity, even if they allow social traffic why wouldn't you want to use:
twitter --> meta refresh --> cj affiliate
Just for the stats tracking alone I'd never use a direct link on a 3rd party site or network. If you go direct from twitter to affiliate without at least using a meta refresh you'll never know where your traffic came from, or if the social traffic was any good for you or not. How will you ever know if your time spent on Twitter is of value, or costing you without some minimal stats to track?

@alderous and scb335 - y'all getting an inkling of how lazy i am?
:rolleyes:
