I had 17 hostgator sales disappear from my CJ account. That's $1700 I earned from a white hat site just talking about hostgator. This week poof they're gone so I emailed hostgator about it and here was the dumbass response I got.

I am sorry, however we do not award commission for referring yourself as a client.

WTF, I didn't sign up and doubt anybody would signup 17 times themselves. So I contact CJ and they tell me.

Dear xxx,

Thank you for your inquiry. You will need to contact the advertiser for more information regarding that matter.

To contact the advertiser, please do so through the ?Mail? Tab within the CJ Account Manager. Once there:

? Click on the Compose button.
? Scroll to the advertiser?s name in question.
? Once the message is composed, press the submit key. This will submit your inquiry directly to the advertiser.

We hope this answers your question. If you have further questions, please don?t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Commission Junction Client Support

I think I'm done with CJ now.

Are you sure the money didnt just transfer to 'publishers payouts'? I know that may be a stupid question.....

Im so mad at PJ right now tho

I check my stats daily. They canceled all my pending hostgator commissions

That is bullshit!

You brought them 17 new customers and they give you nothing! That is some serious bullshit! It just doesn't make sense. Also, what difference does it make if you sign up for the service yourself.

There are a number of large hosts that are notorious for this classic bait and switch behavior. They offer large referral commission for new sign-ups. They make you wait 90 days then reverse the transaction for some BS reason.

If you think about if they actually paid $100 for every $5 per month hosting they would not be in business for long. I have always found greater success with smaller hosts. They usually pay less but at least you will get paid

Those high commission payouts always had me wondering how they were able to do it. I mean $90+ for simple $5 - $10 hosting? It would take about a year for them to get back to break even and if most people are like me I swap hosts a lot.

I stopped working on hosting affiliate programs. Either they don't pay or you have to beg and beg for payment. CJ is OK but those that are paid by the merchants themselves, sometimes, I find myself paid only after a year !

I had the same shit with dish tv on cj. $120 each sale total bs sold 20 sales got paid for none!!!! the sales are still pending after 2years .

I took care of it. Told CJ I will close my account if they don't fix this and the money is now back in my account labeled commission Junction credit payment. I make a lot via white hat with cj

It was probably all Hostgator I can't stand them they screwed me many times while I was hosting with them.

Something about CJ that most people don't care to see. If you are mostly white-hat, you have less than 5% charge-back or other referral payment issue, and you try to help other CJ publishers. A simple letter stating the facts with a simple reminder that you'll walk works wonders.

good solid publishers that are mostly white-hat are hard to find, and since it's steady revenue for them, the risk-reward profile is in your favor of getting paid ( they know that white-hat sites generally have consistent transaction volume and that's worth a lot to them )

Simple sue hostgator in small claims court, they wont show up.

somethings about small claims court that you need to know. Even if the other party does not show up. You still have to validate your claim.

In reviewing the CJ tos and the host gator TOS, it might say that you have to follow certain steps in order to file a claim against them or might say arbitration ( which in most cases is legal ) is the only way to resolve disputes.

now excluding those items, you would want to prepare the case in the following manner.

a) terms from CJ
b) terms from Host Gator
c) your traffic logs
d) your click logs to host gator
e) records of the sign-ups from host gator ( ip proof might also be included )
f) HG refusal to pay,
g) CJ refusal to deal with the issue ( don't forget to cite the terms why they refuse )

you might need the following :
validation from all the sign-ups proving that your not related to them.

beyond that it will be the judge that makes the ruling based on the facts presented.

If it was me, I would show a logic flow of the process, starting from the persons search, to your landing page, to the sign-up to the confirmation ......
nice and big with easy on the eyes logic.

if your lucky and you win, the judge might call a recess and invite you into his chambers to get a better explanation of what you do, If your real lucky, the judge might request that you be on his rolodex for important questions dealing with this type of subject ( don't refuse, since being a judges hot-line guy has certain power of benefit and it pays off real well if you can articulate very well ) or help him with his blog.

in any way, small claims court still requires you to prove your side. so take the 20 or 30 hours and do a proper presentation.

billy good - cause I always bill them good

Well it's easy to negotiate with them if your pushing volume, but it hurts if your a little guy and they start jacking you around...total bs on cj's end though.

i am just starting CJ and HG
since i heard good review from many forum about HG and CJ ,i hope someone with years experienced with HG and CJ can explain more deep

WTF ???? I just noticed after a long time of absence that my balance at CJ is $0 !!! All my balance was credited to "unknown" advertisers for "fees" ???????!!!!!!!!
WHAT F$@%@$~^ing FEES ??

Serious sh!t there. It does'nt get any bad but to find your commissions been ripped off, after the hard work you invested in it. Thanks God, I left CJ lot earlier. CJ has always been under the limelight for such f@cking activites....Hell Ya CJ !!!

After so long without a sale, they start charging you I think, $10 for 6 months for being inactive and nuke all your affiliations.

I had a sale with Startlogic, that showed, then disappeared, then CJ came in, and nuked my $ in the account and said it was cause I had not made any recent sales.

Originally, I gotten startlogic to put my comm back but CJ surely didn't give a crap and give me back my fee, then the StartL money disappeared again. Are all hosting companies POS's or What? maybe it's just CJ.

Dang, maybe this is why with cj they aren't showing any of my conversions. I have the paltalk pay per download thing on cj.com. You get 3 bucks per download. I KNOW people have downloaded it and got a user name. Cuz when I sell it I say , "hit me up on ______ handle when you do". I usually leave mine on and running and I have had people IM me on there saying "oh I just got my name hi" or something... so I know they are downloading and getting a name. I'll even ask them if they used the link I provided. So many clicks, no 3$ showing up...... BS
