CISPA is like the Patriot Act for the web, and is an encroachment on internet freedom. And this time instead of fighting it, Google helped lobby and put this bill together. That's because the bill protects them, the last bill could have had the gov't shut down any website with a copyright violation, but this one isn't about censorship, but taking your personal data without a warrant.

Luckily Obama has threatened to veto this bill if it makes it to his desk.

He is not going to veto it.

    It's all double-talk.

    Yup!

He threaten to veto the NDAA to stop a protest against it. Then, he signed it into law when everyone was out celebrating new years. A very sleazy thing to do.

Politicians are sleazy guys. The people voted for him and the people are backing him up because the talking heads are telling them they should...he and Romney. Talk about same side of the same coin...wow.
Good thing Ron Paul is going to get the nomination.

Dismantling the interwebz one piece at a time... Say what you will, another HUGE disappointment, so I think he'll do whatever is more convenient for his second term, whatever some aide will tell him to do according to the latest survey.. As always.

IIRC NDAA was signed into law because of ear-marked funds. The indefinite detention was something that Obama didn't want, though he couldn't control. Had he not passed it he would have lost hundreds of millions of dollars in military revenue.

CISPA has no earmarked funds. Understand the difference?

He's owned by the powers that be, just like every other prez. Politicians have to lobby for money all year long, that's all they do! So ya pressure your politicians if you want things to change.

What the fuck is up with the paranoia on BHW? Want a bill thats in your favor passed, just lobby for it. Don't like the companies that are supporting bills you dont like, then don't buy from them. maybe create a rival company, and dont start with the bullshit that its impossible, all the big companies today started small with a few people.

And Ron Paul is a terrible marketer,he has no chance until he learns how to market to the majority better.

Lots of Obama hating, but one of the main reasons SOPA didn't go through is because they gave up right after Obama said he opposed it.

NWO? Ron Paul? I guess it figures we'd have a lot of these types here. But libertarianism doesn't protect internet freedom from corporate control, only gov't control. If you're truly for open internet you'd want to protect it from what internet providers and corporations can do to it.

If Obama secretly signs CISPA into law, his hope for re-election is over.

Because election is so close and the fear of backlash, there's a good chance he will veto it. BUT, if he is re-elected, you can bank on it, another version of it will get passed.

Obama turned out to be pretty right-wing on national defense. Which is what NDAA was about.

On internet freedom, he's better than most politicians.

It's a difference without a distinction. The military budget is hundreds of BILLIONS, HE COULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT MONEY ANYTIME. The PLAN was to sign the bill when most everyone was distracted.

Paul is our only hope 2012, to stop BOTH the government and corporate monopoly over our lives.

Amen to that! Unfortunately, I don't think Americans have figured that out yet. They are still stuck in this left vs right, democrat vs republican paradigm and unable to use critical thought.
