What do you people make of this transfer news? Was it over the top? Personally I think it was over the top even though I think Madrid will eventually make that money back cos of his commercial value. He was easilly the biggest shirt seller at MU. Please take the poll and share your views.

And Real will still get their arses kicked by Barca next year..

no player on earth in any sport is worth that much. nowadays football is all about money and is going to ruin the game. greed comes to mind here.

bring back the old days when it wasnt about the money.. makes me sick. heres the world in credit crunch and yet the players can still be paid £50-£150k a week. its sick

paris hilton is only with him for publicity, he's all over the news, if she hangs around with him she will be all over the papers too.
he is a good play, but i have never liked him.
but get business for man u, talk about buy low sell high.

maybe , for the ones that hate him, we could pool our money together and offer someone to take him out in a game.
plaster all the net, like that film SWAT [i think that was it]??
now that would be a joy to watch.

Eric Cantona once said Ferige only sells players when they've lost the motivation and drive to play in a Utd shirt. Ronaldo is brilliant and certainly did his share for the trophies we lifted this season, but his childish brat behaviour put him at odds with the squad and Fergie was right to sell him - how many good players can we now add for GBP80 million? I still like the old school Scholesy - hard worker, always reliable, and no bullshit airheadedness.

Ronaldo and Paris? A meeting of minds no less...

    :)

Toonarme - look forward to seeing you boys back after a season in the Championship - with Alan Shearer as manager in the EPL where you belong...

    Cheers

    Ronin

i know Ronaldo personally and he tells me when his career is over he is getting into blackhat tactics so he can make some real good money that way.

He tells me he is struggling at the moment and is only going out with Paris Hilton to get cheap nights in her Dad's hotels

    i believe him...

I don't know how deep are Real's pockets but 80 M GBP is a sure way to get broke. And MU will be better team without Ronaldo, he is good player as individual but a poor team player. But 80 million is good money, far more than the player is worth , so it's a good deal for MU.

He's worth the 93 million euros Real Madrid payed for him. Most people don't understand the buisness model in football. They have brought the most marketable footballer after David Beckham, who will bring in tons of money. Sure its a lofty fee but Beckham's fee was pretty high too but he payed for himself several times just by the amount of jerseys Beckham sold. Real Madrid once made 15 Million Euros in 1 match back in 2003 because they had Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham and Figo. When you have that sort of talent, people will pay to see them, so it balances out over time. Man Utd will take a big hit because Ronaldo was bringing them in a lot of money. Think how many Ronaldo Jerseys youve seen. Real Madrid will not go broke, they have the highest income of any club, so it's stupid to think that a club that huge will go broke.

Of course Man Utd fans will say he's a crybaby and a whiner and doesn't deserve to be at Man Utd. I think thats really messed up to say, considering he pretty much single handedly gave you 2 (maybe 3) premiership titles and a champions league. Whether you like to admit it or not, he was a key part of why your team was so good the last few years. Yes he can be replaced, no player is irreplaceable, but damn its gonna take some work. Honestly just thank Ronaldo for what he did to for your club and move on.

Also as a side note, Ribery has come out and say that he doesnt want to move to England, and Bayern don't want to sell him at all. So the chances of Man Utd getting him are pretty slim. Also he's not a 30 goal+/ season player, hes more of a creative winger.

From a footballing point of view, I don't think he's worth all that money...but from a marketing point of view, I do believe that he's a very good investment. I read somewhere that Real Madrid hope to get back the money they spend on him in just one year...so, it's good business to buy him.

it will be interesting to know how much penalty kicks madrid will get through ronaldo..

if i not mistaken madrid is further from the centre of the earth compared to manchester..
surely it will be a lot harder for ronaldo to keep his feet on the ground.. :p

I do agree with you. I think real saw this whole deal from the commercial point of view. I mean the guy can sell shirts. I'm a manchester united fan and face it he'll be a big loss to us. But I also believe we'll just come out stronger like we've always done

    1. buy domain cronaldotoreal.com or something like that
    2. find a CPA offer
    3. Iframe it using GodCPA or something like that
    4. compile a nice short video "the best from c.ronaldo"
    5. upload it to youtube, and use those live notations and place a link to your newly bought .com domain
    6. make your new site looks like a pool - it could be similar to this one
    7. watch the cash flow in

    IMPORTANT STEPS:
    8. Thank me
    9. Tell me that this method worked
    10. Brag about getting at least $1k
    11. Buy me a shotgun
    12. kill me for sharing this with the rest of the world, cause i dont have fukin GodCPA

    :)

Didn't Los Angeles Galaxy pay for that gay guy, david beckham $230 Million?
Christiano ronaldo has more football in him than beckham. regardless, it's supply and demand, they wanted him that bad. they had to pay for him.
Also, didn't the manager say a year ago he was a virus?
    100million EURO virus.

no they didnt pay that, he was offered a contract worth something like 250$ million but it was mostly from advertising, very little was from the actual sporting contract. Also that wasn't the transfer fee, god knows who would pay $230 million for a 31 year old player.
