Choosing domain

I have a couple of questions regarding choosing domain names.

I have a couple in mind right now that deal with my niche but they have so much in common. The ones I'm considering are all two words/no hyphens etc./all letters.

1. Is there a big difference in the value of the domain when it's a .com vs a .net

2. How do you decide what domain to go with? What tools do you use? I've heard people use like adwords/google hot trends to see how many searches pertain to each of the words. Is this valuable?

PS.: I registered teenslegal DOT com a couple of days ago. Is this worth anything?

1. Yes .com will always be worth more...way more in most cases when you are talking about high value domain names. Think of it like this. When you go to look for a domain to see if it is available what is your first question? It would be is the .com available? If not then you resort to the others.

2. Search google for keyword tool. It will tell you approximately how many searches are done per month for that KW.

PS. I have no idea...any sort of porn type name that isn't already registered prob isn't worth much however that one does sound decent. The porn industry being the biggest online industry allows for many people to register countless domains. That is why I say any good ones are probably already taken. Outside of that I know very little about the porn industry so take what I say with a grain of salt.
