Where do they those guys get the steam keys really cheap ? Not only keys also gift cards, psn points etc.

Do we have any chance to compete with them?

PS. My main account (opened 2004) has recently shut down and I'd like to turn back to eBay biz. soon!

Just because it shows the account as registered in China doesn't mean it's run by a Chinese :)

Usually, they are in direct contact with the company. They buy in bulk, and sell in lower amounts.

You could compete if you found a few partners and know the right sources. but pipei said it best.

I don't care where they come from but Mostly they are registered in China and Hongkong. There must be a reason if their accounts not run by Chinese.

This is what I thought but if I contact with MS they'll provide me 1000's of codes? and again why Asian guys do those buying only?

Ok, any suggestion? I'm looking for reliable suppliers but couldn't find one yet.

I thought ebay disallowed people from selling virtual or digital goods such as CD Keys ? How are these accounts still operating after selling for so long ?

Most of them are stolen. A person with a stolen credit card or paypal account will go on eBay and buy game card codes from other sellers, and then resell them the next day. Then the original seller loses money because they were purchased with a stolen credit card or paypal account which has to be refunded and has no way of getting their money back. It's untraceable for the most part.

yeah the keys are almost all bought with stolen credit cards / paypal accounts. This is straight fraud, and not something you want to get involved in.

The reason the accounts are listed in china, is that it is easy to get an anonymous bank account and business licence in china. If you have official business documents ebay is a lot more lenient with you, and since they are selling virtual goods normal accounts would be banned for this.

My grandson is into that stuff and he regularly finds free keys for beta versions and even forums and chatrooms where they share and give each other keys and codes.

He told me i should sell them online and we could make money,i told him it aint going to happen..lol

A quick google search "free steam keys" turns up many places offering free keys..maybe thats what they are doing and selling them?

Since he felt ok to bring up the topic to his own grandparent, I bet he'll start selling them first chance he gets without you knowing

This is so cute. They are obtaining them ill.egally. No one is just calling MS and just joining up with some piddly reseller program. Don't be so ignorant.

    So many uniformed people here.

    First things first:
    1) The reason that many of them are located in China is because of their long history. Many, if not all of these sellers have their roots in the MMO market, where they sold ingame currency, items and so on (china farmers, anyone?). Many of them just found a new source in selling game keys, which they could easily expand into, considering many of them made a killing with selling gold, mostly for the World of Warcraft market.

    2) How are these prices so low? Well, different regions have different prices. For example: "Game YXZ" costs 25€ in Germany, but in Russia that same game costs only 10€. Basically, they purchase these games from regions where they are cheaper (not certainly Russia, since these keys are most of the time region locked). Combine that with buying in bulk +100, you get pretty low prices.

Sorry for gravedigging, but I had to comment this. I'm selling keys since a long time now. I sell around 1000-2000 Gamekeys per Month. And sure, some of the cd keys in the Internet might be stolen, like you can buy a stolen watch on Ebay. But there are also Legit ways to get them cheaper that reselling is worth. We also get an Invoice for every order we make. And it would be kind of "stupid" if they would sell stolen stuff and give an invoice for that. And btw they're also companys located in EU, CH, AE, US, who sell keys the Hongkong Accounts are mostly for tax reasons. If you wan't more informations ask here or write me an PM.
PS: No, I don't advertise anything here, but I had to reply cauze there is a lot Bullshit in this thread ;)
