SEO never has been my strong suit.

I'm working on a idea where I want to sell sites offline to businesses after I get them ranking on the first page.

If the competition for the keywords I'm targeting is low what is the cheapest & quickest way for me to ideally rank in the first couple of positions on Google?

I think the cheapest way and the best way to rank is through guest blogging. If you are a good writer you can easily get quality backlinks through guest blogging for free. If you don't like to write you can outsource your articles for a low price. You can also do some blog commenting to get some more quality backlinks.

If your keywords have low competition then guest posts are the simplest and cheapest way for high rank. However blog commenting on niche related keywords websites is also good for this purpose.

Yea, guest posting can provide valuable links, which will rank your site relatively quick. Just focus on the content and getting good relationships with bloggers in your niche. Forget about all directory submissions and blog commenting.

In business like that, you probably want to do white hat to ensure you have a long-term natural link profile which doesn't get banned in next Google update...

Not only guest posting but there are several other options like article submissions, blog commenting will work only if they are implemented full fledged.

Thanks for the feedback. Can anyone recommend a good, cheap (white hat) service that could help me accomplish this?
