I've started getting into proxies lately and eventually fell onto these 2 programs. My information tells me the best place to find proxy lists is proxyfire.net. My problem is that I can't seem to get the proxies copied and pasted correctly into Charon. What am I doing wrong? Is there a specific method.

Also, after searching elsewhere for proxy lists, copying and pasting will work occasionally. But after I load the proxies into ProxyFirewall, none will load in the browser. Thanks for any help.

Mods: I think that this should be to the correct area

    Code:
    [url]http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/f101-proxies/[/url]
The mod there apekillape is sh1t hot on this subject and has given some incredible tuts on both Charon and Proxyfirewall.

I too still have problems I use Charon to test/check lists that I get from other proxy list forums and save this "good anon list" in proxyfirewall I import the "good anon list" which can have over 100 Charon tested proxies in it but proxyfirewall treats 99% of them as bad then when I check that if the proxy is working bingo test works but then no program connects they all time out. So while proxyfirewall is a very good policeman for programs attempting to connect out of your system I have not been able to get any program - even IE to operate via the proxyfirewall. I have tested both Socks and http - still no luck.

I even went as far as installing proxyfirewall 1.0.3 to try still the same.

The only thing I can explain is that I am not US based and perhaps that has something to do with it.

Good luck in getting proxyfirewall to work because it looks super.

I too am having a problem with proxyfirewall. I have Charon working good. I'm able to take some proxies from Charon and get them working directly from FireFox or IE, however I want to take advantage of proxyfirewall's capabilities. I'll post back once I've got it working (if I remember, hahah).

Ok after reading apekillape's "Socksification Redux" thread I got proxyfirewall to work. Unfortunately I don't know what I was doing wrong. I'm pretty sure I was already doing what the guide said. Oh well.. hope you get yours working!

Vexellon, what do you mean by "squid is your friend". I don't understand the reference. Can you point us to some info on creating your own proxies? I have no idea how to do that or what it takes. Thanks!

    Update:

Proxyfirewall is now working but only for http not socks I keep searching for lists run them Charon (1,000 to 3,000 a time) take the good anon a few hundred and import them into PF check the proxies and end up with one or two.
So don't know what I am doing wrong spending more and more time on proxies only for PF to identify them as "bad"

OnFire25, I would suggest you try just importing the proxies into ProxyFirewall without checking for bad proxies from inside ProxyFirewall. Charon does a pretty good job of that and PF may be too strict. I myself got waaaaaaaay more working proxies by testing them only with Charon and using that larger list inside of PF. Let us know how that works.

    Hi Morphus,

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried but still no f***ing luck.

I am not US based an d I don't know if this affects anything. Took latest Socks 5 list from here ran them thru Charon and imported in PF.

Normally use FF so I have set rule for IE 7 to use Socks proxy (rotate open proxies) and test www.micro$oft.com and thats it IE just hangs.

Close down PF restart change rule to using https and things happen.

    Really has me puzzled.
