Hello,

I have a website with 10 articles and it's making me currently 300€/month with 3000 sessions/month.

The problem is that my pagespeeds are really low, and I feel the biggest reason is my theme aka Divi, I'm thinking of changing my theme to Newspaper.

What do I need to take in consideration when changing theme?

Thank you.

Before you radically change your website theme (and html structure) try to speed up your website using caching (WP Rocket or WP Fastest Cache). Use the minify functions (for CSS, HTML and JS) as well.

These two improvements should get your website much faster.

Also check if your website is slow or your host overall, using https://gtmetrix.com/ and https://tools.pingdom.com/

have you joined clodflare at least free?
try to speed your website up.

you can also use wprocket to speed the website up.

there a free version in the download section tries it before changing anything.

load these both first ...

autooptimize is free.

worth a go
Thanks, I've been using SG Optimizer provided by my host (SiteGround), but I'll try WP Rocket - also one reason I want something more simple and light because I write only articles.

Better you should change your host. Also try to optimize the website.

Thanks, I checked my site using gtmetrix and looks like I have 8 different css files and 24 external JS scripts.

do you guys use divi? people always say if your page is slow it is because of your host or your plugins or...

If you use divi and your site is slow, it is because of divi.

I would suggest installing the divi plugin, then switch themes. You won't break your site, but you will get an immediate speed boost. Then you can slowly convert the divi pages and delete the plugin

Combine them using Autoptimize or another caching plugin. Should get you some speed improvements.

I have Divi sites and got them down to under 1 second pagespeed load time (on namecheap hosting not even kinsta)

Needed to optimize for speed obviously, and I had to take away a couple of the calls (think it was JS calls) it makes but nothing too difficult and even if I didn't do that, it would be around 1.3 / 1.5 seconds.

So yeah you can make Divi fast enough, the theme is the last thing you look at really.

There are services here in the marketplace that will do speed optimization or you can learn to do it yourself.

1. Resize and compress all images
2. Install a cacher like WP super cache
3. Lazy load images with BJ Lazy Load
4. Use Autoptimize for JS and CSS
5. Remove all unused plugins and minimize the amount of plugins you use.
6. Switch to a host like Kinsta or WPengine
7. Change theme to Astra or GeneratePress and use Elementor as a page builder
