Changing the website template...

    So, changing the website template disturbs the position in SERP? I don't think so, what is your experience?

    Maybe it would affect your search engine ranking if you forgot to update your meta description after the template change. So long as you copy over the same content/links, etc, you should rank equally well.

    If you mean changing a CMS theme like WordPress, then assuming load-times stay similar and plugins remain the same, with no content/URL changes, then there should be no effect.
