Changing permalink of an existing post in Wordpress, will this break exist backlinks? I changed permalink of an existing post in wordpress that has backlinks but I'm not sure if I lost backlinks of this post because it redirects from the previous permalink to the new one but on backlink tools show that there are no backlinks, so I want to be sure if this didn't break existing backlinks...

I've never had to do this, but based off of a quick google search, you should be fine as long as you use a 301 redirect and the content on both pages is/was related.

A real easy way to do this - Get the plugin Redirection, install it, add the old URL on bottom and new URL on top. It makes a 301 redirect. I have done this when doing such as you say, sometimes I update an article and want to change the permalink. The rankings never drop much and usually increase with the new content of course.

More advanced - You could also just go into your .htaccess file and make a 301 redirect there:
Code:
Redirect 301 /oldpage http://www.yoursite.com/newpage
Redirect 301 /oldpage2 http://www.yoursite.com/newpage2
ect.

It redirects automatically without any plugin.

Thanks for sharing the useful information and yes its right that changing the permalink results in the breaking of links which also counts as a broken link and not good for SEO.

Redirecting the old URL to the new one should take care of it for you.

But I wouldn't change the URL unless you really have to, particularly if the post had links and was ranking.
