When I first started with link building, everything was pretty chaotic.

Common tactics included:

- Getting as many links as possible, regardless of the source
- Mass outreach and non-personalized emails
- Intensive directory submissions and comment spamming
- Using automated tools to create massive amounts of low-quality backlinks
-The popularity of private blog networks

But in 2024, things are different.

Now, most of the big brands I work with, which dominate the search engine rankings, take a much smarter approach:

- For blogs, they organize link exchanges and partnerships with companies in similar or related niches to share great content.
- For product pages, they arrange guest posts or collaborations in related fields on quality sites.
- For data-based assets (like original research), they secure PR links or use HARO to distribute their stories and findings on top sites and blogs.
- For the homepage, various strategies can be employed, including email campaigns.

Today, it's all about highly personalized outreach, building long-term relationships, and offering mutual value.
