change and replace image and effective in seo

My site management system is WordPress. I want to update the old photos of the site and use quality new images. Of course without changing the URL . I mean, without changing the name and image url, I will replace the old photo with a new one. I want to know if this method is effective in SEO? Is this a content update?

It seems to me that this does not affect SEO much if the meta tags are the same
