I am going to print some business cards. Is "certified internet marketing expert" a term that anybody can use? Or you have to be officially certified by some entity?
if I am ever asked, can I say my dog certifies me, so I am "certified"? I am in the US if that matters.
If I can't use that term, what is a cool-sounding term that I could use? Maybe "qualified internet marketing specialist"?

You can't use that term unless you're actually certified by an agency/individual that specializes in certifying qualifying individuals. There are some out there if you're interested. Just Google around.

"Experienced Internet Marketing Professional" sounds good to me.

You could call yourself world seo champion 2009-2012...You can call yourself certified...just print up your own certificate....You could register " The SEO council of America" and elect yourself as the president..... but really on a business card less is more, its not like your pitching a flyer at strangers....you are handing your card out to people who already know what you do. I usually just put Director on my cards which in US talk would be more like founder but if you want something tech sounding try "Internet strategist" or "IM Strategist"

    "certified" sounds really douchey.

I think "experienced" sounds a lot more professional. It tells the client that you have been around the block and know what you are doing.

Internet marketing is too vast and big. If you want to look more professional you should be more specific: I.E SEO Consultant, Video Marketing Expert or Social Media Expert. I don't think the word "certified" is very important for a very simple reason: the internet changes very fast and doesn't give any "entity" the time to organize official courses or to write paperback books. It cannot be compared to a traditional University subject. Think about Panda, Penguin...

Or just put CIME after your name and if they ask tell them it stands for Certified Internet Marketing Expert
